Gigi’s husband is the director of Casa Esperanza of Angels, the orphanage being built in the Philippines. I found out that his wife was not a member of the church. So, I had e-mailed him about showing how the study materials ( God Speaks Today ) by brother Jerry are used, and if Gigi could be there, as I taught her. He thought it was a good approach. When I got to the Philippines, I asked Gigi if this was ok with her, and it was. I gave Ronald his book, and told Gigi that she would get hers later. We went through the first lesson and she did very well. I tore out that lesson, and explained that she would get the next one when we completed it. I believe it was after the second lesson, maybe third, that at the end of it, after discussing respect for God, and about how we sin ... Gigi broke down into tears and began crying. She said, “I need to be honest with you. I was Catho- lic, but I need to be baptized.” She had been thinking about becoming a Christian, but as her family members are devout Catholics, she wanted to make sure it was her decision. Her husband did not force her, nor did I force her. I gently, kindly and with love taught the truth of God’s word. She repented and confessed Christ. We had to search for water, as they do not have a church building. We went to a resort with a swim- ming pool, however it was very crowded and music blar- ing. She wanted a more private place. So, we went to another resort with a pool. No one was in the pool. They wanted 300 pesos per person to use the pool; however would not allow us to use it, because we did not have on swimming suits. There are not really beaches there like Gulf Shores. The surf was coming in, and it was rolling in black. There was a canal op- posite a wide, concrete wall. We waded into the water, and immediately I sunk about shin deep into mud. My slip on plas- tic shoes came floating to the top of the water. Ronald, Gigi’s husband came into the water with us. He immediately sunk in the mud and got his foot caught under a rock, and had diffi- culty in getting it unstuck. Thanks be to God for giving the increase as Gigi was baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit for the remission of her sins. Coming out of the water was a little treacherous, in coming out of mud, climbing up on a rock, with sharp rocks. However, we made it out and went on our way rejoicing. I told Gigi that it was not a better felt than told experience, but asked how she felt ... she said she felt “light”. Praise be to God for lifting the guilt and weight of sin. The power is in Gospel of Jesus Christ. The material prepared by brother Jerry is a very good tool in shar- ing that good news. He lays out very clearly about how God speaks today through the Bible. He teaches about the law of inclusion and exclusion. He very thoroughly teaches about respect for God and His word and commands. He very clearly teaches God’s scheme of redemption through Jesus Christ. He also explains each aspect of worship for a Christian. Ronald, the director of Casa Esperanza wants 10 books to be used in teaching in the Philippines; whether with children of the age of accountability coming into the orphanage or with adults. These lessons are suitable for all ages. I hope this gives encouragement to those going on the campaign to Belize, but also for Bible studies with individuals in your home area. May God give the increase and that He be glorified. PRISON MINISTRY Our next PREA training session for the Ala- bama Dept. of Correction is Monday, 2-11-19 at the St. Clair Prison from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.
