INTRODUCTION Doordharshan was founded in 15 September 1959 with a small transmitter and a makeshift studio. The DD provides television, radio, online and mobile services throughout metropolitan and regional India, as well as overseas through the Indian Network and Radio India. Doordarshans regional stations were networked using INSAT 1A and a national feed called national programme was introduced. Rangoli is the oldest programme on DD National, dedicated to Classic Hindi songs.

  7. 7.  THREATS Existence of number of channels. Private channels turning into HD quality are attracting viewers. Development of internet in the modern generation. Advancement in education. Rigid format of programmes and stringent norms make viewer dispassionate about Doordarshan
