I read an article and sharing it as PPT, as I feel it’s worth a read and to remember! I do and lets also think about Mother Earth!!

1. Do we need to
grow more food?

2. • About third of the planet’s food goes waste –
some because its not picture – perfect
• In a world nearly 800 million people a year go
hungry
• Food waste goes against the moral grain
• Producing food squanders the water, fuel and
other resources used to grow it

3. • If food waste were a country, it would be the
third largest producers of greenhouse gases in
the world, after China and the US
• Everyone can play a part in reducing food
waste
• In India, growers annually trash thousands of
tons of fresh greens that lack sufficient shelf
life for a cross country journey

4. • According to the Food and Agriculture
Organization of the United Nations, we
squander enough food – globally, 2.9 trillion
pounds a year – to feed every one of then
more than twice over.
• Where is all the food going?
• In developing nations much is lost post
harvest for lack of adequate storage facilities,
good roads and refrigerations

5. • In comparison, developed nations waste
more food farther down the supply chain,
when retailers order, serve or display too
much and when consumers ignore leftovers in
the back of the fridge or toss perishables
before they have expired
• Wasting food takes environmental toll as well

6. • In the planet of finite resources, with the
expectation of at least two billion more residents
by 2050, do we need to waste?
• Reducing waste has become a matter of national
emergency
• Departmental stores are running stores like a
beauty pageants, responding to customers, they
say, who expects only platonically ideal produce,
apples round and shiny, asparagus straight and
tightly budded.

7. • It would be far better to simply reduce the
standards
• The U.S. wastes 30 to 40 percent of its food
while one in seven people suffers from food
insecurity
• Our choice of perfectly shaped fruit equals, X
million acres of land, X million gallons of water
and X million pounds of fertilizers

8. • With population grows and more people
develop taste for meat and dairy products,
which require huge inputs of grains and other
resources for relatively little caloric gains, this
toll shall worsen
• We need to tell people in concise way that
their choices matters
• SAVE FOOD!! Rather than it going to bin!!
