1. 1. SAKSHI ANAND VI-D 35
 2. 2. FRACTIONS
 3. 4. MEANING OF A FRACTION When an object is divided into equal parts, each part is called a fraction of the object. This circle is divided into 4 equal parts. One of the 4 equal parts which is separated is written as ¼ and named as one-fourth.
 4. 5. Fraction has 2 numbers. Number above the line is called NUMERATOR and the number below the line is called DENOMINTOR. Ex. In fraction 1/8 1 is numerator and 8 is denominator.
 5. 6. EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS

Two or more fractions whose lowest term is same are called equivalent fractions.

 6. 7. LIKE FRACTIONS

Fractions having same denominators are called like fractions.

 7. 8. UNLIKE FRACTIONS

Fractions having different denominators are called unlike fractions.

 8. 9. UNIT FRACTIONS

A fraction with numerator 1 is called a unit fraction.

 9. 10. PROPER FRACTIONS

If the numerator of fraction is less than the denominator. Such fractions are called proper fractions .

 10. 11. IMPROPER FRACTIONS

If the numerator of fraction is greater than or equal to the denominator. Such fractions are called improper fractions.

 11. 12. MIXED NUMBERS

The fractions like & are are called mixed numbers .

 12. 15. IMPROPER FRACTION INTO MIXED NUMBERS
 13. 17. ADDITION OF FRACTIONS WITH LIKE DENOMINATORS
 14. 19. ADDITION OF FRACTIONS WITH UNLIKE DENOMINATORS
 15. 21. MULTIPLICATION OF FRACTIONS
