  3. 3. Vasco Da Gama’s Biography <ul><li>Vasco Da Gama was born in 1469 in Sines, Portugal. Vasco Da Gama who already had some reputation as a warrior and navigator, was put in charge of four vessels built especially for the expedition. </li></ul>
  4. 4. O n July 8 1497 Da Gama rounded the Cape Of Good Hope. Four months later, Da Gama reached Calicut in India on May 20 th , 1498. The moors of Calicut didn’t want Da Gama to have all their spices, and so he returned to Portugal with the bare discovery of the land beyond the Cape Of Good Hope and the few spices he had bought there at inflated prices ( but still he made a 3000% profit ! )
  5. 5. On 1504 May 29 th Da Gama got ready to send things to the king. In 1505 – 1506 he needed to find a safe sea route for Prince Henry . Unfortunately he died in India on December 24 th 1524 in Cochins . It was unlucky that he died but Bartholomeu Dias who had travelled with Vasco Da Gama for a while died at the Cape Of Good Hope.

Why did your explorer explore where he did? </li></ul><ul><li>His brother was asked by a famous sailor to find a sea route and Vasco was jealous of him so they had a battle and Vasco won so he went to find a sea route. </li></ul><ul><li>What was your explorer looking for?
