  2. 2. case study lever court Lever Court, 37-41 Duke Street Liverpool Lever Court is situated within the Duke Street Conservation Area and Ropewalks district of Liverpool city centre. The development offers a unique balance of fast paced city living with that of a hidden urban sanctuary. The six storey mixed-use development of sixty one apartments, ground floor A3 commercial space, underground car parking and an urban landscaped courtyard provide contemporary secure luxury living, in the city centre and close to Grosvenor’s eagerly awaited Liverpool ONE development. The project has been developed as a response to the confined site restraints and the Conservation Area status, in order to deliver a development that is sympathetic to the existing historical architecture, whilst providing the client, the Iliad Group, with a landmark building in its own right. It was also through these constraints that the development of the elevated private courtyard allowed the proposals to take on a unique character and provide the urban security that is missing within other city centre residential developments. The choice of materials such as limestone cladding, aluminium and render together with a design decision to include large picture windows to all the apartment living areas, has allowed for the creation of a contemporary façade to be developed, that compliments the proportions of the surrounding Georgian and Victorian architecture. The large picture windows to each apartment allow views of Liverpool’s Cathedrals and skyline with good floor to ceiling heights with fenestration to match, making the rooms seem generous and light, a feature embellished with a balcony per apartment.   6. 6. case study duke street Duke Street, Liverpool Situated within the World Heritage Site Character Area, the Rope Walks and Duke Street Conservation Area of the city centre this site of the former NCP car park on Duke Street and six town houses, two being Grade II Listed Buildings. A planning application has been submitted on behalf of our clients for a 365 space multi-storey car park and a 109 bedroom 3/4 star hotel. The proposed scheme has been designed to contribute to the wealth of historic and contemporary architecture along one of the key arterial route into the city and assist in the regeneration of this area of the city centre. SNOW were appointed as architects to look at the proposals after the success of their previous planning approval for site consisting of a six storey new build residential development of forty nine apartments, eleven more apartments than the previous architects proposals, to Parr Street and the reinstatement of the town houses to Duke Street.   7. 7. case study prescot road prescot road, liverpool Situated in the Newsham Park Conservation Area and the Kensington Regeneration Area this conversion and adaptation of a historic victorian villa is set to provide 13 No. two bedroom apartments. The existing unsympathetic extensions which were consturcted during the 1960’s and 70’s are to be demolished and a new build extension is to be constructed to the rear. The existing villa will be restored to its original form. Together with its contemporary additions the scheme will provide desirable and affordable residences close to the centre of Liverpool which will prove to be a catalyst for the regeneration of the area. After extensive negotiations and correspondence with the Local Planning Department, Conservation Officer and Urban Deisgn Officer the scheme has been granted approval and work will commence on site before the end of the year. SNOW produced a full set of working drawings for the construction of the industrial units working closely alongside Sutcliffe Consulting and Structural Engineers to assist in the delivery of packages for Building Control approval and for construction.
