In addition, the qualification covers a mixture of teaching and learning experiences from theoretical through to those with a clear practical emphasis. Unit 1 <ul><li>The leisure industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the UK and Europe, and affects everyone’s life. </li></ul><ul><li>This unit provides an over-arching understanding of the dynamic UK and European leisure industry. You will investigate: </li></ul><ul><li>The leisure Industry and its definitions </li></ul><ul><li>The range, scale and importance of the leisure industry within the UK and the rest of Europe </li></ul><ul><li>Key factors influencing access, participation and barriers in the leisure industry </li></ul><ul><li>Key aspects of the market and how it can influence the leisure industry </li></ul><ul><li>Sectors and partnerships within the leisure industry </li></ul><ul><li>Current developments in the leisure industry, including the role of the media. </li></ul>

Unit 2 <ul><li>In this unit you will investigate: </li></ul><ul><li>Provision for customer needs and expectations </li></ul><ul><li>Key principles of successful customer service </li></ul><ul><li>Staff and their communication with customers </li></ul><ul><li>The importance of the customer to the leisure industry </li></ul><ul><li>The significance of product knowledge in providing customer service </li></ul><ul><li>Different methods used to evaluate standards of customer service </li></ul><ul><li>the development of customer service skills and their application in dealing with a range of customers with different needs </li></ul>

It is also essential for staff to follow set procedures and use appropriate technology in order to maintain records, accounts and membership details. </li></ul><ul><li>In this unit you will investigate: </li></ul><ul><li>Safe working practices in the leisure industry </li></ul><ul><li>Key quality control and management systems used in the leisure industry, including IIP and QUEST </li></ul><ul><li>Key business systems used in leisure organisations </li></ul><ul><li>Key aspects of marketing used in the leisure industry </li></ul>
