  3. 3. Total Population <ul><li>The percentage decadal growth during 2001-2011 has registered the sharpest decline since Independence </li></ul><ul><li>A decrease of 3.90 percentage points from 21.54 to 17.64 percent </li></ul>
  4. 4. • 2001-2011 is the first decade, since 1921, which has actually added lesser population compared to the previous decade.
  5. 5. Top Ten Countries <ul><li>India contributes 18% to World Population and is still growing at a higher pace than the World average. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Total Population in comparison to GDP <ul><li>A whopping 105% growth in Per Capita GDP within the past one decade. </li></ul>

Total Population (Aged 0-6 Yrs) <ul><li>The total number of children in the age-group 0-6 is 158.8 million (minus 5 million since 2001) </li></ul><ul><li>Uttar Pradesh (29.7 million), Bihar (18.6 million), Maharashtra (12.8 million), Madhya Pradesh (10.5 million) and Rajasthan (10.5 million) constitute 52% children in the age group of 0-6 years . </li></ul><ul><li>The proportion of Child Population in the age group of 0-6 years to total Population is indicative of fall/rise in fertility </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>The total contribution to the National Population by current DB States has marginally risen from 25.4% in 2001, to 26.0% in 2011. </li></ul><ul><li>Bulk of the growth comes from Rajasthan & Madhya Pradesh. </li></ul><ul><li>Barring Punjab, all other DB States have grown by 20% or above. </li></ul><ul><li>Maharashtra contributes 9.3% of the total Population while Bihar contributes 8.6% </li></ul>State-wise Population 2001-2011

  10. 10. State-wise Literate Population 2011 <ul><li>Major DB States contribute 25% of India’s Literate Population. </li></ul><ul><li>Bihar will add another 7% </li></ul><ul><li>Maharashtra accounts for 11% </li></ul>
  11. 11. State-wise Literacy Rate 2001-2011 <ul><li>Rajasthan, Jharkhand & Madhya Pradesh continue to be below the National Average </li></ul><ul><li>Jharkhand & Gujarat grow at a higher rate than the National average </li></ul>
  12. 12. State-wise Literacy Rate by Gender 2001-2011 <ul><li>Female Literacy continues to grow at a far higher pace </li></ul><ul><li>However the gap between Male & Female Literacy rates are above 20% points in most DB States </li></ul>

State-wise Density of Population & Sex Ratio 2011 <ul><li>Among current DB States, the CPH region has a Pop Density higher than the National Average </li></ul><ul><li>Bihar has a density almost 3 times the National average </li></ul><ul><li>The Sex Ratio among DB states, with the exception of Jharkhand & Chattisgarh, are lower than the National average </li></ul>
