The Bose Solo TV Sound System is a great device to add to a room with a HDTV, but where you don't want to install a full surround sound system. For me, I have a main television with surround sound in the Living Room, but also have a television in the bedroom. I don't want to install a full surround sound system in here, but also don't like the tinny sound of the television's audio. The Bose Solo TV Sound System is a perfect solution.
I already know Bose makes great sound systems, but I was shocked by the level of sound that come out of the Bose Solo TV Sound System. I was watching LOTR and you can hear the horses hooves hitting the ground, and Shelob's (giant spider) near silent "footsteps". I don't know how well the base would sound in a larger room, but for a smallish room it sounds pretty good. I do wish that the system had buttons on it, because it is completely dependent on the remote, so don't lose it!
The setup routine is straightforward. Place the Bose Solo on your TV stand, then place your TV on top of it. All your home theater gear connects directly to your TV (likely via HDMI), then you connect your TV's audio output to the Solo. Plug in the power cord and that's it. Note that the Solo has two bass ports in the back, so you'll want to make sure it's a few inches away from the wall.
