About the LLS Therapy Acceleration Program

  1. 1.  Having previously worked for USAA Marketing, San Antonio's Dawn Johnson now serves as the chief executive and founder of DMJ Consulting, a firm dedicated to developing executive business strategies that tie all aspects of the business into its bottom-line results. Dawn Johnson is also involved with charitable organizations both within San Antonio and nationally, including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), where she is a board member. Committed to curing and preventing blood cancers for over 60 years, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society focuses on leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and Hodgkin’s disease.
  2. 2.  In 2014 alone, the nonprofit supported 350 research projects throughout the world, contributed $79.8 million to research and grants, and spent $15.9 million on its therapy acceleration program. A strategic initiative, the LLS therapy acceleration program helps clinical investigators develop treatments and craft supportive diagnostics more quickly than they would otherwise be able to, through academic concierge services, a biotechnology accelerator, and clinical trials. Its academic concierge division uses the organization’s network of clinical-grade material manufacturing companies and documentation assembly services to help studies move into the next development stages.
  3. 3.  For companies with active or potential blood cancer projects, the biotechnology accelerator secures funding necessary to complete testing, registration, and marketing for new therapies and diagnostics. In the final component of the therapy acceleration program, the clinical trials division helps patients access clinical trial studies in community oncology settings.
