Under the sheet metal, Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD have been completely redesigned for 2011. With new and significantly stronger
frames, upgraded suspensions front and rear, upgraded braking systems and beefier steering components, they’re the strongest,
sturdiest and safest pickups GMC has ever built. That’s why, model for model, they have more towing capacity and greater payload
capacity than Ford’s new 2011 F-250 and F-350 in every comparable configuration.*

Every 2011 Sierra HD rides on a segment-exclusive** all-new high-strength steel frame featuring fully-boxed rails
front-to-rear. Compared with the 2010 Sierra HDs, the bending and beaming stiffness of the new steel frame is
increased 92 percent and 20 percent, respectively. Torsional stiffness is up by a tremendous 500 percent.†
UPgraDeD PoWerTrain anD BoDY MoUnTS
Larger engine and transmission mounts, coupled with a stiffer front frame section, help reduce vibration in the cab. Extended Cab
and Crew Cab models also use hydraulic body mounts for increased isolation from vibration on rough roads.

Sierra’s smooth-riding short-long arm/torsion bar independent front suspension now features stronger, lighter forged-steel upper control
arms and precision-machined cast iron lower control arms. The result is a 25-percent greater front axle weight rating† – up to 2721 kg
(6000 lb.) – so a snow plow can be fitted on all 4x4 models. The suspension trim height can also be easily adjusted to compensate for the
weight of the plow to help maintain optimal wheel-to-ground contact and maintain better running ground clearance.
4x4 models feature a proven 2-speed part-time transfer case with the convenience of an automatic connect/disconnect mechanism in
the front axle. That means you can shift on the fly from 2-HI to 4-HI in the warmth of your Sierra’s cabin instead of kneeling in the snow
or mud to manually lock up the front hubs.
aSYMMeTriCaL LeaF SPring rear SUSPenSion
The asymmetrical design features unequal front and rear spring half lengths. The result is reduced axle hop under acceleration, more
stability, improved traction control performance and improved ride characteristics.

TRAILER SWAY CONTROL
Any time this system detects trailer sway, it activates individual truck and/or trailer brakes and reduces engine power, if necessary,
to help bring the trailer back under control and keep it on its intended path. Included on all models with single rear wheels.
HILL START ASSIST
This feature makes it easier to move off smoothly from a stop on grades of about 5 percent or more. To keep your truck and trailer
from rolling backwards when you release the brake pedal, it automatically holds the brakes for an additional 1.5 seconds or until
you press the accelerator. Included on all models with single rear wheels.
TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL
The available integrated trailer brake control system is controlled via a switch mounted on the dash. It measures brake force and
activates the trailer brakes as needed.
TRANSMISSION GRADE BRAKING
Both 6-speed automatic transmissions include an automatic grade braking feature. When the transmission detects a downhill grade,
it can automatically shift down a gear to apply additional engine braking for improved speed control and reduced brake wear.
BUILT-IN 5TH-WHEEL PREP
With pre-drilled access holes in the rear frame section, the new Sierra HDs make it easy to install the 5th-wheel or gooseneck-style
hitch of your choice. You can also specify an available 8-way wiring harness that’s conveniently routed to the front of the pickup box.
