ACA 115 Success and Study Skills 0, Lab = 2, 1)
Prerequisites: None I Co-requisites: This course provides an orientation to
the campus resources and academic skills necessary to educational
objectives. Emphasis is placed on an exploration of facilities and services, study
skills, self-assessment, wellness, goal-setting, and critical thinking.

According to College Policy, “Cleveland Community College is committed to providing an envi-
ronment conducive to learning. To that end, cellular phone and other electronic device use
should be kept to a minimum and conducted in areas that do not disturb others, preferably out
-of-doors. If cellular phones or other electronic devices must be used while on the CCC cam-
pus, follow these procedures”:
• Turn cellular phone ringer off or set to ‘silent’ upon entering any classroom, computer lab,
library, auditorium, or instructional area.
• Short, quiet cellular phone conversations may take place in corridors, away from door-
ways. Please move extended conversations outside of the buildings.
• Move immediately to a hallway when receiving or placing calls. Take your belongings with
you if you must move to conduct a phone call.
• Be courteous to others by keeping your voice at a low volume.
• Faculty members have the right to limit the use of cell phones and other electronic devices
during class time. Violating classroom rules may result in a finding of academic dishonesty
if violations occur during examinations or individual projects. Faculty members reserve the
right to confiscate any electronic device visible during examinations or individual projects.
• Cell phones cannot be used in the library.
• Cell phones with picture taking capabilities are not allowed in restrooms, changing rooms,
or locker rooms.
Using a personal computer during seated class time is a privilege extended by the instructor.
The instructor reserves the right to ask the student to defer from using a personal
computer during class time.

Academic Honesty
Cleveland Community College expects students to practice
academic honesty at all times. Academic dishonesty refers
to cheating on tests, examinations, projects, and other as-
signed work. Plagiarism, a very serious form of academic
dishonesty, is work that has been written by someone oth-
er than the student submitting the work or work obtained
from an undocumented or improperly documented re-
source. Students
are responsible for documenting both direct quotations
and paraphrased material. Direct quotations must appear
within quotation marks and must be documented. Para-
phrased material (written in the student's own words but
taken from another source) must also be documented
completely and accurately.

Evaluation -How Your Grade Will Be Determined
There are a total of 10 Modules for this course. Each module has a reading assignment and may also include oth-
er assignments such as student inventories, short-answer questions (blogs), quizzes, case-study questions, or jour-
nals. A breakdown of Module assignments and their total grade value are listed below:

All details and requirements for assignments are located in Blackboard, under Module Assignments. Module As-
signments will be due by 4:00pm each Friday, except for July 4, when Module 6 will be due on Monday, July 7.
You may work ahead when possible, but blogs and quizzes only open one week prior to the deadline in order to
keep you focused and on task with the weekly reading and assignments.
Late Work and Make-up Work Policy
Late assignments will not be accepted or graded for credit unless there are extenuating circumstances. Prior ap-
proval from the instructor to accept any late assignments will be required. Documentation may be required at the
discretion of the instructor. Please note that all assignments for this class are due by 4:00pm on Fridays.

Please move extended conversations outside of the buildings. • Move immediately to a hallway when receiving or placing calls. Academic dishonesty refers to cheating on tests, examinations, projects, and other as- signed work. Plagiarism, a very serious form of academic dishonesty, is work that has been written by someone oth- er than the student submitting the work or work obtained from an undocumented or improperly documented re- source. Students are responsible for documenting both direct quotations and paraphrased material. Direct quotations must appear within quotation marks and must be documented. Para- phrased material (written in the student's own words but taken from another source) must also be documented completely and accurately. Each module has a reading assignment and may also include oth- er assignments such as student inventories, short-answer questions (blogs), quizzes, case-study questions, or jour- nals. Module As- signments will be due by 4:00pm each Friday, except for July 4, when Module 6 will be due on Monday, July 7.
