9. How to do this on your own
• Figure out your ideal book buyer
– Background info
– What they want out of life
– Why they will buy your book
– Best way to reach them
• Then learn how to use Facebook Audience
Insights to segment and target your audience
11. Finding your best book influencers
• Right kinds of people following them on social
media
• Often, subject matter experts
• Born extroverts, unlike you
• Like to be the first to know or read something
13. Figure out your best keywords
• Book title itself
• Descriptions of your book
• Good nouns to describe your content, style,
category or focus
• Learn how to use Google and Facebook Ads
to get the best keywords that are used in
searches
16. Some bad domains
• kygal.com
• sandkinteriordesigns.com
• vitaminshoppe.com
• whoRepresents.com (find your legislator)
• penIsland.com (custom made pens)
• masterbaitonline (bait and tackle shop)
• TherapistFinder (shrink locator)
17. Domain naming rules
• Heard without having to spell it out
• Shorter is always better
• Two or three words concatenated
• .com are best, but consider other suffixes:

Do’s
• Follow people before trying to DM/Tweet to
them
• Use Twitter daily – but don’t obsess about it
• Make sure you have your privacy settings the
way you intended
• Constantly cultivate and widen your network
• Use it to explain stuff to your audience
• Keep the buzz going about your book

Don’ts
• Don’t send out mass invites to more than 30 people
at once
• Don’t put non-book related items in your status
updates
• Don’t worry about the number of followers
• Build your audience slowly over time
• Don’t just get started on your website/social media
accounts two weeks before your book is released
