  2. 2. What’s Modernism? Modernism was a cultural movement occurred in West at the end of nineteenth and at the beginning of the twentieth century. In art, although in Catalonia has a much broader sense, took effect especially in architecture and decorative art.
  3. 3. Where was Modernism found? It’s considered that in the firsts modernisms paintings are founded in Roquetaillade Castle, in France.

Besides the magazine, Rusiñol and Ramon-Casas exhibitions-direct heirs of the French impressionists painters, in the Sala Parés in Barcelona, Sitges Modernist parties, and Maragall articles on Barcelona and Raimon Casellas journal on “La Vanguardia testify to the arrival of a movement that aims to completely renovate the Catalan cultural life and it infiltrates in every kind artistic demonstration: architects like Gaudí, Domènech i Montaner i Puig i Cadafalch are the leaders in the reviewing proposals architectural.

Gaudí’s Art Gaudí’s art uses ,the Muslim art and Gothic and Baroque styles, following the fashion of this historical time , with an effort to reach the historical styles and get their own structural and plastic shapes. He invented a considerable quantity of mechanisms, systems and arquitectural elements, showing a arquitectural language very constructive sensible, with the predominance of straight line on the curve.
  7. 7. Influences to the Moorish Art You can see the historical influences in his works, as the Moorish art. The Moorish art is stressed because of its interior decoration where you can see the sky, to create a mystery space.
