  13. 13. ??2018??
  14. 14. The AAUT recognise quality practice and OUTSTANDING contributions to student learning
  15. 15. She tells me I must clearly focus on the ‘excellent’ features of my teaching practice, and how I make an outstanding contribution to student learning Describing aspects of my teaching which are “good teaching practice” (Ramsden, 1992) would not be sufficient for a successful application (Prior, 2010, pp. 3-4) For an ALTC application, I need to make sure I articulate both the unique and excellent aspects of how I contribute to student learning
  16. 16. (Henard & Ringuet, 2008, p. 4) Lacks a clear definition Understood differently by different stakeholders Good teachers demonstrate “empathy” Excellent teachers “have passions: for learning, their field, for teaching and their students” Student centered, focus on learning, addressing students’ personal needs, ensuring students understand why what they are doing is important
  17. 17. Practice supporting outstanding teaching Enaging learning clearly related to learning outcomes Setting clear expectations about all learning activities Embedding and communicating cricial academic skills Demonstrating teacher professional knowledge Supporting student diversity Providing quality, frequent, useful feedback … see (Hill, 2015)
