Overview <ul><li>David Hasegawa </li></ul><ul><li>Started school in 1964 at Liholiho Elementary School in Kaimuki. </li></ul><ul><li>Graduated from Kaimuki High School in 1977. </li></ul><ul><li>University of Hawaii at Manoa, B.A. in Speech, 1987. </li></ul><ul><li>When I finish my degree, I hope to become a secondary Social Studies teacher in Hawaii’s public school system. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Educational Technology <ul><li>Teaches us to appropriately use, create, and manage technological processes and resources, which brings opportunities for meaningful “real world” learning. </li></ul>

  5. 5. Kindergarten technology <ul><li>We didn’t have Sesame Street back then … (sorry Bert!) </li></ul><ul><li>but we had Romper Room with </li></ul><ul><li>Miss Robin and, </li></ul><ul><li>Checkers and Pogo. </li></ul><ul><li>(cartoons were big then) </li></ul>
  6. 6. High School Technology <ul><li>Electric typewriter (with </li></ul><ul><li>correction tape; no white-out </li></ul><ul><li>necessary), </li></ul><ul><li>Overhead projectors, </li></ul><ul><li>and </li></ul><ul><li>8-Track tape players in our cool cars </li></ul>
  7. 7. College Technology <ul><li>PC’s with floppy discs </li></ul>and My Nintendo Entertainment System (father of Sony PlayStation and X Box)
  8. 8. My vivid technology learning experience <ul><li>Coming back to college </li></ul><ul><li>and being introduced to </li></ul><ul><li>the ELMO projector in </li></ul><ul><li>class. </li></ul><ul><li>( I was blown away, YouTube in </li></ul><ul><li>class… amazing.) </li></ul>
  9. 9. A technology I want to use in my classroom <ul><li>I would love to use the site, a site that creates a global community of connected classrooms filled with projects and forums for students to communicate, collaborate, and learn from one another. </li></ul>
  10. 10. My vision of the classroom of the future A classroom with Smart Boards and laptops for all.
  11. 11. A challenge for teaching <ul><li>The economy </li></ul><ul><li>and the publics </li></ul><ul><li>commitment to </li></ul><ul><li>education and, </li></ul><ul><li>my commitment to learning and keeping up with new technology. </li></ul>
