10,000 local fans

 1. 1. Sharing the Timeless Gospel Message with 21 st Century Tools
 2. 2. Dream

Goal:

Use online and offline strategies to build a list of 10,000 local fans.

Convert these local fans into members

Grow to a church of 3,000+

 3. 3. Methods

Online

Blog

Social media

Email marketing

Forums

Article marketing

SEO

Offline

Biz cards

Word of mouth

 4. 4. The path to become a member
 5. 5. Blog

Post a 100-200 word thought a couple times per week

Post audio clips of Sunday sermons

Post video clips of church

Push this content out to FB & Twitter

Encourage comments/feedback

 6. 6. Email Capture

Offer an awesome, free e-course or devotional in exchange for email address

E-course ideas

7-Day Prayer Breakthrough

P.R.A.Y. Your Way to a Better Marriage

7 Bible Secrets to Abundance

As soon as email is entered, their first e-course arrives

At about Day 3-5, we invite them to a cup of coffee with pastoral staff or some such personal contact

When e-course is over, we send out a newsletter once or twice a week to stay in contact and advertise Sunday sermon.

 7. 7. Virtual Church

If we had a list of 10,000, every blog post would be like preaching to church of 10,000

Blog/email/newsletter would be a non-threatening way for them to see what we’re all about.

Offering a meeting with pastoral staff would take the connection to the next level.

Autoresponder would help us stay in touch.

It would “brand” us as the church that helps a specific situation, instead of “just another” church.

 8. 8. Prayer Hotline

Add a prayer request hotline to blog/newsletter

Person sends prayer request to hotline email address—request form asks for contact info, but not required.

Hotline email address fwds to prayer team

Hotline email address autoresponder sends letter saying people are praying and offering pastoral visit to hospital, home, etc. for prayer

Forms with contact information are called by someone on prayer team within 24-48 hours offering home/hospital visit for prayer.

 9. 9. The Event

Host an event like Elevate or Back-to-Church Sunday

Send out to our list

Target the event to the needs we discovered through blog/fb/prayer request interactions.

Add emphasis on email capture at the event

 10. 10. Side Benefit

We could keep track of the types of prayer requests received and evaluate trends.

If trends indicate parenting concerns, we could host an event aimed at parents.

If trends indicate financial concerns, we could host an event aimed at finances.

In other words, our events would then be targeted specifically to the needs of the community.

This would probably increase our conversion rate because the event is tailored to the need.

 11. 11. Online Outreach Strategies

SEO

Blog

FB/Twitter

Contests

Biz cards with give-away and website

Capture every email easily available…parents of SS kids, visitors, members, families, etc.

Check for local web forums and get active there.

 12. 12. Offline Marketing Strategies

Create prayer request biz card and give to members to distribute

Any time someone asks a member for prayer, they could ask for their email address so we can send them an email and get them in our autoresponder.

Advertise prayer hotline on daily radio spot.

Consider other types of traditional marketing—signage, mailers, flyers, etc.

 13. 13. Cost

Blog—FREE

Autoresponder---FREE up to 1,000 person list

E-course---FREE repackage content we already have

Prayer hotline---FREE need a few volunteers willing to pray and a select handful to make outreach phone call or home visit

Pastoral visit---FREE

Biz cards----$100 per thousand

 14. 14. Time Commitment

Blog Post

Up to 2 hours per wk if new content needs to be written

10 minutes or less if just uploading current content

Weekly Newsletter

Up to 2 hours per wk if new content needs to be written

10 minutes or less if just uploading current content

Prayer Hotline

Administrative is automated so zero admin time

Just prayer time from volunteers

E-Course

After initial set-up: Zero time invested

 15. 15. Potential Results

For the past 2 years, we’ve had about a 2% conversion rate from first contact to regular attender.

Let’s say that email is only half as effective so…

With a list of 1,000, we should be able to get about 10 new families or 30-40 new people per event.

With a list of 5,000, we should be able to get about 50 new families or 150-200 new people per event.

With a list of 10,000 we should be able to get about 100 new families or 200-300 new people per event.
