2. Business Plan
For over 5 years, the company has been working on product development at its laboratory facilities in the
Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania. At the moment, it has completed the Phase one of its R&D and the new
funds will be deployed for Phase two development, which will allow the company to take this technology
to a commercialisation stage, in the range of 2kW to 25kW, improve its laboratory facilities and purchase
additional equipment.
Although the company is currently located in the US, it is considering the option of relocating its
headquarter to China or Europe, in order to meet investors requirements and also to have full operative
offices in the US, China and Europe.
The company has been in advanced negotiations for the sale of its products with major OEMs for power
tools, HVAC, power generation, aerospace, and governmental institutions such as the US Department of
Defense. In 2012 the company, together with Electron Energy Corporation, was awarded & successfully
completed an SBIR Phase one project for a 3kW generator. The company intends to sell its products as
well as license them. Thor Power business model involves the generation of revenues through direct sales,
government sales, grants and licensing with OEMs, generating revenues from royalties on sales of
products incorporating the product, and OEM buy-back to drive down unit cost.
The company is always looking to create partnerships to introduce its technology to new markets and
applications. Thor Power has a 33 per cent interest in a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) in
Pennsylvania that will focus on micro wind turbines and micro-grids targeting US housing authorities,
where electricity cost represents 30 per cent of total operating expense. At the same time the company has
active projects that are in process for micro-turbines for Canada, California and Hawaii.
As a market exit for its shareholders, Thor Power’s management foresees an IPO or a strategic merger in 5
years time, which will bring to investors of this financial round compounded returns of over +30 per cent.
