  3. 3. • Bright Career :- Charming and Admirable poet of India ‘‘most Accomplished living poet of India ‟‟ – Mr. Gosse Spoke of her. Devoted more time to poetry than her study in U.K.
  4. 4.  Her work :- Three volumes1 ‘The Golden Threshold’ - 19052 ‘The Bird of Time.’ - 19123 ‘The Broken Wing.’ – 1915 “Her work has a real beauty sometimes of her lyrical work is likely, I think to survive among the lasting things in English literature” - Shree Auribindo
  5. 5. o The Musicality in Sarojini‟s Poem :- Lyrical poet Melodious She used old Style with simplicity in writing and There is directness in her Poem . Ex. „„ But for Lily-like fingers and feet, The red, and the red of The heena-tree.‟‟o Love poet Chiefly as a Love poet.
  6. 6.  Indian Influence :- Indian Theme Palanquin Bearers Lightly, O lightly we bear her along, She sways like a flower in the wind of our song; She skims like a bird on the foam of a stream, She floats like a laugh from the lips of a dream. Gaily, O gaily we glide and we sing, We bear her along like a pearl on a string. Softly, O softly we bear her along, She hangs like a star in the dew of our song; She springs like a beam on the brow of the tide, She falls like a tear from the eyes of a bride. Conclusion :- Her birthday is celebrated as Women’s Day Today Sarojini is among the immortals because of her enchanting poetry that has thrilled several generations. On March 2, 1949, the Nightingale of India flew away from the earth and India lost her beloved child. Her name will be in the Golden history.
