2. 2. Subcultures of the world HIPPIE
 3. 3. Evocation stage

The teacher:

-Good morning children! Please sit

down.

I want to ask you a question:

Do you know any subcultures? If yes, what are they? Can you please tell me the characteristics of every subculture that you know one by one?

 4. 4. The students try to tell the teacher what they know and discuss the information

- And now can somebody please tell what assosiation of subculture do you have when I say the word “flowers”? Any guesses?

-Right you are,

it ‘s hippie!

 5. 5. Do you believe?

Please tell me if you believe or don’t in the following:

subcultures are musical groups

all the subcultures are dangerous

Among most popular subcultures nowadays are: goths, emo, punks etc.

Hippies were called the children of flowers

 6. 7. Realization of meaning

please take these charts and fill in the 1sr column and then while reading the text please fill in the 2 nd column

What I know about this topic What new information I have learnt
 7. 8.

Now please take 15 minutes to read the text to learn more about hippie culture and try to fill in the 2 nd column of the chart

Follow this link to read the text:

Hippies and the Revolution of a Culture -

 8. 9. Now please look at the questions on the board and take a couple minutes to recollect the information and then one by one let's answer them altogether : Thick questions Thin questions Why do you think this movement appeared? What was the motto of the hippie movement? Why do you think the part of the movement was called «The Summer of love»? When did hippie movement appear? Explain (as you think) why after the Vietnam war the hippie movement became unpopular? Who were the representative os this movement? What is the difference of the hippie subculture to the others? Why did hippie use drugs? Imagine that you live in the 60s-70s and you have to promote the hippie movement what arguments will you give to someone to join in it? What did they use to show their protest? Imagine you need to describe to someone the appearance of a hippie how would you present him/her What was the name of the event and the number of people who visited it in 1969? In your opinion how would neo-hippie look in our days? What ideas of hippie still exist?
 9. 10. Reflection

Now please pay attention that I am dividing you into 2 groups,

well, group 1’s task is to speak your mind on the topic “Hippie culture”, please sit in a circle and

group 2 is to sit around group one so that you can hear their discussion, listen without interrupting and make notes on the main points that are discussed and write down your questions and commentaries.

The students discuss the topic

 10. 11. Now I want some of you, probably 3 people to draw a conclusion on the basis of the text and discussion of the problem of Hippie culture
