2. The technology that we used
• A dell pc
• A iPhone 5s camera app
• A video camera
• Sony vegas editing software

3. Research and Planning
To get used to and learn how to use the video camera and
Sony vegas me and Laura joined up with another group in
our class (Gabby and Elsa) and we carried a preliminary
task. The aim of this task was so we can practice our skills
with the camera, using different shots and zooming
in/out etc, and also to practice lip syncing alongside
editing it all and putting it into practice on sony vegas.
Doing this made it easy for me and Laura to be quick with
our filming and editing as we already knew how to use
the technology…

4. …when it came to our real product, we took
research more serious than we did for our
preliminary task. We did a lot of in depth
research on Rihanna, her music videos and
directors of her videos.
We also looked at the background and history of
our artist to help us gain a deeper more in depth
understanding of what she is about and what
the R&B genre is about…

5. … our planning involved organising a day Lexie
was free to film the backdrop scenes during
school hours then the next important task was
to organise a full day where Jake and Lexie
where both free so we could film all our house
shots during that one day. We did this whilst
organising costume and makeup with Lexie
beforehand.
We then planned a few days me and Laura could
both sit and edit our music video together.

6. Other programmes we had used
Along side using sony vegas, me and Laura used
Wordpress.com to help us blog our every
movements of the project. We also used
YouTube to upload our videos we made.
Slideshare to upload PowerPoint presentations
during research and planning.
We both individually used our own laptops at
home for our own individual work.

7. Filming and Editing
Here is a screenshot of the editing process in Sony Vegas. Filming
involved me and Laura taking turns to use the camera. In the
backdrops scenes Laura filmed it all whilst I took control of starting the
music and stopping it and cueing Lexie to start lip syncing. During the
house scenes me and Laura took our turns.
When it came to the ‘texting’ shot Lexie had to hold Jakes phone
whilst Laura sent messages from her phone to Jakes phone. We did
this like that so we could have complete control over the phone during
filming…

8. … the editing process involved putting in the
official Rihanna song and muting our clips and
getting them on point with the song where Lexie
is lip syncing. We got this perfect during editing
and was pleased with how professional it
looked. However after uploading it to YouTube
we found that the lip syncing had gone out of
sync by a mini second and it didn’t look as
profession as it did. This is something we tried
to fix but there was no answer to it and sadly
had to put up with it…

9. … also another problem we found was the
quality of the video. It was a good decent quality
during editing but again after uploading to
YouTube the quality had been lost.
We used fade in/our effects for our video and
this involved merging two of our clips together
to create a [x] shape in which a fade in would
occur.

10. Uploading our video
After such hard work we found it was time to upload our final video. After showing it
to numerous of people we editing it a few times before we was happy with it.We then
used Laura’s media coursework YouTube account to upload the video. Here is picture
