### Arts and crafts 6

1. 1. TASK UNIT-6 ARTS AND CRAFTS DANIELA PEREZ MORENO
2. 2. a.- What is a triangle? Write a definition. A triangle is a shape formed by three straight lines that intersect each other .It has three sides and three vertices.its angles add up to 180º.
3. 3. b.- Describe the characteristics of a quadrilateral. What quadrilaterals can you name? Quadrilaterals are flat shapes that have four straight sides, two of which intersect the other two.In other words, theyhave four sides and four angles and four angles is 360º.
4. 4. c.- Name and define the important lines of a triangle. The heigt of a triangle:this is measured perpendicularly to the base in a straight line to its opposite vertex. The middle point: is the middle point of any side of a triangle. The middle point of a segment: this is the line that joins any vertex in a triangle to the middle point
5. 5. d.- What is a trapezoid? How is it different from quadrilaterals called parallelograms? Trapezoid:none of its sides are equal nor parallel. All its angles and diagonals are different. The angles are not right-angles and the diagonals are not parallel.
6. 6. e.- Draw the following triangles and quadrilaterals giving step-by-step diagrams. Write simple instructions for each step. 1. A triangle with sides that measure 65, 55 and 45 mm. 2. A diamond with the longest diagonal measuring 60mm and its smallest diagonal measuring 50mm. 3. A trapezoid with sides measuring 45, 40, 35 and 30 mm and a diagonal of 50 mm
7. 7. f.- Find a picture by Richard Anuszkiewicz that uses just triangles . http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_hOqI9H5CI-Y/SO8Lbm3JHAI/AAAAAAAAAvo/clcfBRwr2DA/s400/anuszkiewicz_rosafication.jpg
8. 8. g.- Look for the picture "Grande Toile Grise Pour Kassel" painted by Antoni Ta pies in 1964. What polygonal shapes can you see? http://www.artium.org/coleccion_catalogo/coleccion_cat_GetImg.php?Img=imagenes/02-250_1.jpg
9. 9. h.- Look for a Basque Sculptor who uses mostly polygonal shapes in his works. http://www.artespain.com/wp-content/uploads/esculturas-jorge- oteiza.jpg By Jorge Oteiza http://www.publispain.com/revista/imagenes_septiembre/jorge-oteiza.jpg
10. 10. i.- Look for Pablo Picasso's " Accordionist " painted in 1911 and Georges Braque's "Violin and Palette " painted in 1909. What movement do they belong to? What similarities can you see? The two images are abstract and the painters use polygonal shapes http://www.rankopedia.com/CandidatePix/64445.gif http://emuseum2.guggenheim.org/media/full/54.1412_ph_web.jpg
