Lap-Band Surgery Procedure<br />The surgeon makes a small incision into the abdomen, through which he inserts the gastric band.<br />He then maneuvers the band into place (around the upper part of the stomach).<br />The band contains an inflatable tube that the surgeon fills with saline solution.<br />The tube expands and constricts the gastric band, which in turn constricts the stomach.<br />Finally, the surgeon completes the procedure by suturing the incisions closed. <br />
