Since 2010, lawsuits between a genealogical society and archives about reuse of digital archives. > Fear of reuse (especially commercial reuse) > Fear of fall of public financing to digitization > Ignorance of what open data is 5 national archives 100 departmental archives 30 big municipal archives But only ~ 5 archives with real open data politics Open data in French archives Slowly it moves… : partnerships with Wikimedia France, educational « lobbying » of pro open data, French open data laws for public administrations (but still a little “cultural exception”)...

March – June 2015 Forum of the Association des archivistes français (AAF) (March 2016) about “meta/morphoses : les archives, bouillons de culture numérique” ➢ >> 3 days of conferences and workshops (website) >> and an event about archives, data, even open data... Brainstorming what kind of event ? for who ? archivescamp ? hackathon ? Debrief of the first Swiss Open Cultural Data Hackathon, thks again ! It will be a datasprint Prepared in advance, with results and tools displayed during the forum. Target : showing what we can do with archives data and how

(xml, csv, pictures) July – December 2015 > call for participation (mailing via the association) > information meeting to explain the event in November (around 12 persons - slide) > web platform to list data created with Tumblr (fast and simple, RWD, tag navigation) > toolbox with infoviz tools datasprint.forum2016.archivistes.org

January – March 2016 > form (for inscription and access to data) + spreadsheet to list project > work mainly at distance, alone or in a mini team > tutorials for some projects Animated gifs Because archives are a bit suspicious about open data in France, we’ve accepted data with open licence AND data just for the event
