Note: Deacons will also appoint those leaders in “appointed” areas referred to in the C&Blaws as “Organizational Positions”…currently: Moderator, Church Clerk, Office Administrator, Treasurer, Financial Secretary. The appointment procedure will follow the steps given here.
Yearly terms has the advantage of giving people a break if needed. Also helps the deacons move someone on who needs to be guided out of the ministry.
Elders have to confirm the choice of leaders as they need to know who’s doing what in the church under their care. In some instances, the Elders may have information about a potential leader that Deacons won’t.
