Neill-Wycik Membership Definition – Anyone paying rent who is 16+ <ul><li>Members are expected to follow the by-laws </li></ul><ul><li>pay your rent on time </li></ul><ul><li>contribute to the building (MCP system) </li></ul><ul><li>respect the rights of other members to quiet enjoyment of the building </li></ul>

Facility Orientation <ul><li>Some Facilities require orientations </li></ul><ul><li>To get an orientation, call x6006 and leave your name and number or e-mail the facility Manager. </li></ul><ul><li>Be patient, sometimes it takes awhile to organize an orientation </li></ul><ul><li>If you don’t hear anything back, call your CA </li></ul><ul><li>When you sign your lease, you absolve NW of any responsibility when using the Facilities </li></ul>

Security - There to Help <ul><li>CSRs wear a NW Security shirt/sweater </li></ul><ul><li>The Front Desk is staffed 24 hours/day </li></ul><ul><li>All CSRs are trained in first-aid and self-defense </li></ul><ul><li>If you need any assistance, call Security by dialing 3000 or 0 </li></ul><ul><li>Answer questions about Wycik </li></ul>

  32. 32. <ul><li>Community Assistants are members hired by the building (answer to CDC – Melissa Wilkes) </li></ul><ul><li>A C.A. will be represent one or two floors </li></ul><ul><li>C.A.s help members get their MCP hours </li></ul><ul><ul><li>providing clubs/committees </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>giving members ideas for what they can do </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>entering hours into the NW Database </li></ul></ul>What is a C.A.?

  35. 35. <ul><li>In Neill-Wycik, there is the Member Contribution Program (MCP) </li></ul><ul><ul><li>it helps lower rent by having members help with maintenance </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>it helps the community & makes Neill-Wycik a fun place </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Each member must contribute 2 hours/month </li></ul><ul><li>The hours must be approved by a C.A. or the CDC </li></ul>What is this MCP thing?

How Do You Do Them? <ul><li>Easiest Way is to check the posters by each elevator or check the online calender. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>C.A.’s will post the dates and times for each drive, event or committee </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>You have a wide variety to chose from </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Each month try something new! </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>You can bank your hours! </li></ul></ul>

How to Bank Hours <ul><li>You may not always have time, so try to bank hours! </li></ul><ul><li>This means you can do a few month’s worth of hours in one month </li></ul><ul><li>If you bank your hours, they cannot be done in the same committee or event unless previously approved </li></ul>
  38. 38. <ul><li>Run for the Board of Directors </li></ul><ul><li>Join SAC or the MRC </li></ul><ul><li>Become a Facility Manager </li></ul><ul><li>Check the poster boards by the elevators for openings on these committees </li></ul>Join a Committee

What happens when you don’t do your MCP hours You get a letter to report to the MRC All penalty hours have to be done through Maintenance If you go to the meeting 2 missed hours + 2 punitive hours = 4 penalty hours (or send a letter or a friend) If you don’t go to the meeting 2 missed hours + 4 punitive hours = 6 penalty hours

Doing Penalty Hours <ul><li>Go down to Maintenance </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Monday - Sunday, 7AM to 7PM </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Do not call for an appointment, just come down to the Maintenance Office (Basement) </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Penalty hours are not negotiable with Maintenance, only with the CDC </li></ul>

What happens when you don’t do your penalty hours <ul><li>Your penalty hours get converted to a Housing Charge following the next scheduled Board Meeting </li></ul><ul><li>4 penalty hour = $40 housing charge </li></ul><ul><li>6 penalty hour = $60 housing charge </li></ul><ul><li>The housing charge is subject to late fees! </li></ul><ul><li>Approved at the March 2006 AGM, Effective May 2006 </li></ul>

It is Your Responsibility <ul><li>The responsibility is on you, the member, to complete your MCP hours </li></ul><ul><li>Make sure a C.A. knows what you have done </li></ul><ul><li>You have to do your hours if you are paying rent, even if you aren’t in the building that month </li></ul><ul><li>You can bank hours </li></ul>

Stuff in the lease <ul><li>Do not paint your room - Maintenance will do it for you </li></ul><ul><li>Members agree to report all damage immediately </li></ul><ul><li>The Co-op has the right to enter your units in case of emergency, room checks or maintenance repairs </li></ul><ul><li>Your lease does not cover insurance on your personal belongings (keep your door closed and locked!) </li></ul>
  51. 51. Other Important Rules <ul><li>You must respect other members’ right to quiet enjoyment </li></ul><ul><li>There is ZERO tolerance for violence, harassment, discrimination, drug use or property damage </li></ul><ul><li>No pets in multi-unit rooms (excluding small fish) </li></ul>

Tips for Living in Wycik <ul><li>Get to know your CA and at least one other CA </li></ul><ul><li>Bank one month’s MCP hours - just in case </li></ul><ul><li>Keep an eye out for postings by the elevators </li></ul><ul><li>Join a committee </li></ul><ul><li>Attend the General Members Meetings </li></ul><ul><li>Keep your kitchens clean </li></ul><ul><li>Attend the SAC Events </li></ul><ul><li>Don’t be afraid to ask questions </li></ul><ul><li>Get involved!!! </li></ul>
