  2. 2. <ul><li>3 Exams </li></ul><ul><li>Mid-term Exam (Coverage dates are on the syllabus) </li></ul><ul><li>Post-Break Test (Coverage dates are on the syllabus) </li></ul><ul><li>Final Exam (Comprehensive) </li></ul><ul><li>2 Book Exams </li></ul><ul><li>The Jungle by Upton Sinclair </li></ul><ul><li>Coming of Age in Mississippi by Anne Moody </li></ul><ul><li>Attendance and participation </li></ul><ul><li>If you are absent, assume you have missed something important and contact a classmate for the notes </li></ul><ul><li>If you miss a test, you have 1 week to make it up provided you have a verifiable excuse (e.g. doctor’s note) </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Five short identification questions, five fill in the blanks, five true and false questions and five matching questions </li></ul><ul><li>There will also be a choice of essay questions. </li></ul><ul><li>You will automatically lose ten points if the essay question is not answered in essay format. </li></ul><ul><li>Take notes! Anything that I say in class is subject to appear on the exam. </li></ul>

  5. 5. <ul><li>There will be a sign in sheet handed out within the first 5 minutes of class </li></ul><ul><li>Write legibly; if I can’t read it, you are not here </li></ul><ul><li>Your final grade will be penalized one-half letter grade if you exceed three absences </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>It is better to contact me via email </li></ul><ul><li>I expect proper email etiquette to be followed: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Subject in the subject line </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Proper salutation </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Respectful tone </li></ul></ul><ul><li>If these courtesies are not followed, the email will be ignored. Remember you are preparing for the “real” world and you will be expected to be courteous towards your co-workers and employers. </li></ul>
