2. English verbs of perception can bear both concrete and
abstract meanings.And when translating them into French,
sometimes we do not have the same senses of concrete and
abstract meanings.

3. The follwoing examples are extracted from Larousse
Dictionary (English-French):
* Let me see your hands! = Fais-moi voir OR montre-moi tes
mains ( Concrete & Abstract Meanings)
* She could see a light in the distance. = Elle voyait une
lumière au loin. ( Abstact Meanings in Both Languages)

4. Take a Look at the Follwoing Expressions with Verb “See”:
* Could you see your way to lending me £20? = Est-ce que vous
pourriez me prêter 20 livres ? ( Abstract Meaning in English & No

* To see the back OR last of something = En avoir fini avec quelque
chose. (Abstract Meaning in English and Concrete Meaning
in French)

5. Verb “Feel” is Sometimes Translated in French with
Abstarct Meanings and Other Times with Concrete
Meanings:
* To feel hot/cold/hungry/thirsty =Avoir chaud/froid/faim/
soif ( Abstract Meaning in English & Concrete Meaning in
French )
* My hands/feet feel cold = J'ai froid aux mains/pieds.
(Abstract Meaning in English and Concrete Meaning in
French)
* To feel good/old/full of energy = Se sentir bien/vieux/
plein d'énergie (Both languages with Abstract Meanings)

6. Here, the Abstact Meaning of Verb “Feel” in English is
Translated into Verbs of Concrete Meanings with Static
Concept in French by Using Verb Être (Be):
* To feel hard/soft/smooth/rough = Être
dur/doux/lisse/rêche (au toucher)
*Your forehead feels hot. = Ton front est brûlant.
*Your neck feels swollen. = On dirait que ton cou
est enflé.

7. Generally speaking, Verb “Hear” in English is Translated
into “Entendre” in French. But when It Connotates
“ Understand”in English, It is Translated into a Verb with
a Concrete Meaning in French :
* I hear you're leaving. = J'ai appris que tu partais.
* Have you heard the latest? = Connaissez-vous la
dernière ?
* Have you heard anything more about the accident?=
Avez-vous eu d'autres nouvelles de l'accident ?
