What is the IIBA <ul><li>The International Institute of Business Analysis is an international non-profit association for business analysis professionals. </li></ul>Vision: To be the world's leading association for Business Analysis professionals Mission: To develop and maintain standards for the practice of business analysis and for the certification of its practitioners

IIBA Goals <ul><li>Create and develop awareness and recognition of the value and contribution of the role of the Business Analysis Professional </li></ul><ul><li>Define the Body of Knowledge </li></ul><ul><li>Define the business analysis profession by providing certification to its members </li></ul><ul><li>Provide a forum for knowledge sharing </li></ul>

Business Analysis Certification <ul><li>Certification background </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Conducted Job Survey Analysis </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Awarded contract to Castle Worldwide for psychometrician assistance </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Test questions written in August 2006 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Finalizing questions by year end 2006 </li></ul></ul><ul><li>IIBA CBAP Certification </li></ul><ul><ul><li>First Sitting held Nov. 10, 2006 16 successful CBAP </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>12 Exam offers for 2007, including 2 international – London, England and Australia </li></ul></ul>Opportunity for SA BA’s: Will be held in SA if enough members ISO 17024

Business Analysis Certification <ul><li>Designation - Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) </li></ul><ul><li>The IIBA Certification will recognize individuals with an advanced level of knowledge and qualifications </li></ul><ul><li>The IIBA will consider offering additional certification programs in the future based on demand </li></ul>Note: Education Provider certifications will not be recognized as a substitute to the IIBA certification

Business Analysis Certification <ul><li>Certification Entrance Criteria </li></ul><ul><li>Five years work experience in past 10 years </li></ul><ul><li>Experience in 4 out of 6 knowledge areas </li></ul><ul><li>Minimum high school education </li></ul><ul><li>Two references </li></ul><ul><li>21 hours of professional development </li></ul>Contact Education@southafrica.theiiba.org

Endorsed Education Providers <ul><li>There are currently 43 EEP’s around the world </li></ul><ul><li>Committee will evaluate training programs submitted by vendors </li></ul><ul><li>IIBA will provide direction on programs that align with the BOK </li></ul><ul><li>Courses will not be audited by a committee member </li></ul><ul><li>IIBA web site will have an area for members to review endorsed education providers </li></ul>
    11. 11. THE SOUTH AFRICAN CHAPTER Mission: Further the aims of the IIBA Represent interests of local BA’s in respect of international IIBA goals Offer local value for chapter BA’s

Current Status of Chapter Start Up <ul><li>Kickoff meetings held in CT & JHB (x2) </li></ul><ul><li>Petition signed by 15 IIBA member to form the SA IIBA Chapter </li></ul><ul><li>Acting Board has been assigned </li></ul><ul><li>Formally establish the SA Chapter by July 2007 </li></ul><ul><li>Membership target: 200 members by end of 2007 </li></ul><ul><li>Monthly networking events (evenings) in Gauteng and Western Cape </li></ul><ul><li>Get IIBA to offer CBAP exams in Western Cape and Gauteng in late 2007/early 2008 </li></ul>
