  3. 3. THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION   BRITAIN WANTED TO KEEP ITS NEW TECHNOLOGY SECRET A LAW WAS PASSED FORBIDDING ANYONE TO TAKE PLANS OF THE NEW MACHINERY OUT OF THE COUNTRY.
  4. 4. SLATER BREAKS THE LAW   SAM SLATER WAS A SKILLED MECHANIC, HE DECIDED TO LEAVE BRITAIN AND MEMORIZED THE DESIGN OF MACHINES IN THE MILL HE CAME TO AMERICA AND BUILT THE FIRST SUCCESSFUL TEXTILE MILL IN AMERICA POWERED BY WATER

  8. 8. LONG HOURS & CHILD LABOR   AS THE MILL GIRLS BEGAN TO LEAVE THE MILLS, IMMIGRANTS TOOK OVER THE JOBS FOR LONGER HOURS AND LESS PAY CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS SEVEN WORKED IN FACTORIES
