  • The bottom two ports of the M340 NOC are equipped with RSTP to create ring topologies All Schneider Electric ConneXium switches are RSTP capable A ring can be constructed with up to 32 nodes Upon a change in configuration (for example caused by a cable failure) the network will be re-established within 50 ms. The application may take longer depending if any timeouts were triggered during the reconfiguration of the ring. This value depends on the type of devices on the network and all devices must have RSTP enabled. NOTE Rockwell has been advertising DLR (Device Level Ring technology) to support I/O rings. DLR requires custom hardware and extreme modifications to the Ethernet network. No practical evidence exists yet of its performance
  • Today, the Magelis HMI offer consist of a complete offer with the: Small panels consisting of semigraphic panel suited for visualization only or simple control. Easy, simple, no brainer. Advanced panel, consisting of high end HMI and is the core of our offer which makes us world leader in the category with touchscreen panel from 3.8 “ to 15”, touchscren keypad as well as Open HMI based on Windows Xpe Control panel, a new range of combined HMI and Control starting with this model for optimized compact machine Industrial PC and Box: this is a new generation of PC-based offer to run application such as HMI, SCADA or other industrial customized application As you can, see, it’s complete, it’s powerful, and its scalable! Indeed, thanks to Vijeo Designer HMI configuration sofware, you are able to configure from the 3.8” color to the 15. You can also develop your application on the XBT GT (running optimized OS environment) and migrate within a click of mouse to an Open HMI (based on Windows XP embedded) like the XBT GTW or the PC based panel running Windows XP Pro to take advantage of higher processing power and openess of windows based application.

  • SCADA options are designed to extend Operations and Monitoring of your control system. The first options available on the SCADA package are: +PowerConnect – bringing together power and process data +Facilities – bringing together process and non-process systems to allow “Total Site Automation” These options work individually or even better together to allow us to optimise our process with energy in mind.
  • Your benefits Reduced training needs Better reaction time Improved decision making
  • The key deliverable within the +PowerConnect package is the power meter drivers. We are focused on delivering connectivity to our Schneider Electric power meters (ION, PM). The communications with these devices is via Modbus (with time-stamped data) or via 61850 (sometimes using a gateway) We also provide access to generic meters via the generic protocols. IEC61850 is available but only licensed for 200 devices, Modbus and DNP3 are part of the core SCADA while IEC 60870-5-104 is an option for the SCADA package Providing access to the information is the key “MEASURE” step as it adds the power meter data to our existing process data

  • Process Safety relates to the strategy and means deployed to reduce the probability and severity of Process Incidents. Here is the definition of Process Safety, given by the CCPS (Center for Chemical Process Safety). The second remark is important: time scale has to be expanded on several years. One or two, five, even ten years is not necessarily bringing a non disputable proof: it’s also a question of density of observed “population”. Process Safety must deliver a win–win outcome in the balance of safety and productivity, of growth and risk management . Safety Instrumented System key Requirements : Reliable Safety System eliminates Hazard sources and minimizes Risks but also High Availability to minimize unplanned downtime Scalable configuration options with different levels of Redundancy Smart Integrated Safety System for easy implementation, operation and maintenance Process Safety is a blend of engineering and management skills focused on preventing catastrophic accidents, particularly explosions, fires, and toxic releases, associated with the use of chemicals and petroleum products. It is important to keep in mind that Process Safety incidents are “high consequence, low frequency events.” Therefore, it is possible for a plant, and even the entire industry to have declining numbers of incidents for many years, and then have a very serious incident with little or no change in operation. Therefore, any progress in Process Safety must be viewed over a horizon of many years.
  • Taking into consideration the above challenges, SE is offering a solution for safety system based on a common platform. This platform is Modicon Quantum, a worldwide recognized offer and proven technology. The Modicon Quantum is a direct evolution of its predecessor the Modicon 984 series. Modicon 984 was a reference in the industry for Emergency Shut Down applications. This proven Modicon offer has marked the process industry for over 25 years. Today, with the increase in safety regulation and the more stringent requirement of the industry, the standard for Programmable Electronics have evolved. These stringent requirement are part of the IEC 61508. And SE has adapted and improved its standard offer to meet these stringent requirement. Modicon Quantum Safety offer is now certified by TUV Rheinland group.
  • Visualize plant and process information throughout the enterprise Comprehensive and secure data repository Enterprise wide reporting to your desktop Connectivity to all plant level data sources To meet regulatory requirements and act as inputs to the performance improvement process Reduce time and effort involved in data collection and management

    88. 88. Schneider Electric 88- Industry Business - ABrown – June 2009Process Safety is a blend of engineering andmanagement skills focused on preventing catastrophicaccidents, particularly explosions, fires, and toxic releasesWhat is Process Safety? It is important to keep in mind that Process Safety incidents are“high consequence, low frequency events.”“Therefore, it is possible for a plant, and even the entire industry to havedeclining numbers of incidents for many years, and then have a veryserious incident with little or no change in operation. Therefore, anyprogress in Process Safety must be viewed over a horizon ofmany years”Definition by:
