This presentation shows 3 users doing their day to day jobs in the company and how they use different software to accomplish their tasks. In the style of the Meet Charlie...slides. First presented as INV101 at Lotusphere 2009, but I removed everything except the stories.

  5. 5. he's a project manager... ...for the CIO's office.
  6. 6. Christof manages multiple initiatives during the day. Meeting Project C Project A Meeting Files Project D Activity Project B
  7. 7. His teams are located all over the world. (which makes communication a challenge)
  8. 8. Before, he used email and conference calls... keep things moving along.
  9. 9. Today, he posts reports and updates to a tea m wiki
  10. 10. Team members can keep up to date... ...and contribute directly to the wiki.
  11. 11. This makes everyone happy... less time in meetings, more time getting the job done .
  12. 12. Furthermore... Christof's boss can always find out status by checking the project wikis or subscribing to the feeds .
  13. 13. Web conferences keep the global teams in synch, synch... ...and on time .
  14. 14. Project deliverables are posted... the team's file sharing space. (not in email anymore!)
  15. 15. Christof blogs about himself and process improvements the company could make... ...and reads blogs on the company's intranet site.
  16. 16. He learns that a colleague in France shares similar interests about wine, food, pets, and projects . Philippe Babineaux
  17. 17. Other departments come to Christof for advice, but luckily he's already posted all of his knowledge to his personal file sharing site ... ...and to his blog .
  18. 18. This saves him a lot of time ... ...answering the same questions over and over.
  19. 19. He starts a community so that other project managers and he can share their secrets ... ...or commiserate about their projects.
  20. 20. Christof receives a bonus for going above and beyond!
  21. 21. He's happy ! His team is happy ! His boss is happy !

  26. 26. She can't live without this: When she sees something important , she can flag it for follow-up later on.

  28. 28. While in her calendar, she can keep track of important events ... ...related to her clients and accounts .
  29. 29. She can quickly access her email... ...and follow-up on the most important issues.
  30. 30. She keeps in close contact ... with her major accounts.
  31. 31. and shares information with them online.
  32. 32. When she needs help finding some info or an answer to a question... ...she simply asks the community .
  33. 33. A sales community helps her acquire deeper skills.

  35. 35. Like lawyers . And product specialists . Or event planners .
  36. 36. She's on the road a lot.
  37. 37. And stays in contact via her blog ...
  38. 38. She subscribes to key information feeds... ...and sees that Christof has a post that will help her with a client. Reader

  49. 49. He taps into the community to gain direct feedback from customers... ...on current and future product ideas.

  51. 51. He 's an early adopter and keeps up-to-date with the latest and greatest ...he also gets to meet cool people, like himself :-)
  52. 52. The TOP IDEAS from customers go into a market research report for product planning... ...and shared with his team (of course).
  53. 53. He shares the information with an outside consulting firm.
  54. 54. The yearly product planning cycle begins... going above and beyond office.
  55. 55. Conrad posts the planning document for review , comment , and sign-off . Love the deadlines !
  56. 56. Tapping into the community is rewarding for everyone. I can find what I need when I need it. I spend more time with my clients. I get stuff done. I enjoy my job.
