    1. 1. About Hartwick Capital  The Hartwick Capital name was inspired by Hartwick Pines State Park - one of the last preserves of virgin white pine in Michigan. In the late 1800’s, while the rest of the country was obsessed with the California gold rush, more money was actually made in the lumber industry in Michigan. These lumber profits were the foundation of the capital pool used to incubate the auto industry.  Much as Michigan prospered and set a new course for the future by recognizing economic opportunity as the rest of the country focused on more glamorous endeavors, Hartwick Capital is focused on servicing opportunities in the Midwest and in particular the $5 million to $100 million transaction segment which has struggled to obtain professional services comparable to efforts focused on larger or more in vogue endeavors.
