Zacchaeus Chapel Time

  1. 1. A little man who became big in the Kingdom of God. Featuring the Art of Henry Martin Presented by Sermons 4 Kids
  2. 2. One day, Jesus went to visit the city of Jericho.
  3. 3. The people of Jericho were a very sad people. Whywere they sad? They were sad because they had to pay taxes … and their taxes were very high.
  4. 4. The reason their taxeswere so high was thatthere was a dishonesttax collector in the city. The tax collector’sname was Zacchaeus.
  5. 5. Zacchaeus would always collectmore tax than people owed.He would give part of the moneyto the Roman government andkeep the rest for himself!
  6. 6. Zacchaeus heard that Jesuswas coming to Jericho. Hewanted to see Jesus, but hewas so short that he couldnot see above the heads ofthe people who crowdedaround Jesus.He saw a Sycamore treenearby and decided to climbthe tree so that he could seeJesus.
  7. 7. He climbed…
  8. 8. And climbed…
  9. 9. And climbed…
  10. 10. And climbed…
  11. 11. And climbed…
  12. 12. And climbed…
  13. 13. And climbed…
  14. 14. And climbed…
  15. 15. Until finally, he was perched high in the top of the tree!
  16. 16. When Jesus passedby, he looked up inthe Sycamore treeand saw Zacchaeus.“Zacchaeus, youcome down,” Jesussaid. “I am going toyour house today.”
  17. 17. Zacchaeus climbeddown from the treeas fast as he could.Jesus went withZacchaeus to hishouse and haddinner with him.
  18. 18. Some of the people were very angry with Jesus because he went to the home of Zacchaeus.
  19. 19. But once Jesus was in hishome, Zacchaeus changed.He told Jesus that he wouldgive half of his money to thepoor -- and if he had cheatedanyone -- he would pay themback. He promised to repaythem four times the amounthe had stolen.
  20. 20. That day a lot of people in Jericho were much richer -- and much, much happier.
  21. 21. Zacchaeus was happy too!Jesus had changed his life!
