About AWMA & CPANS <ul><li>Found in the Year 1907. </li></ul><ul><li>Non-profit and Non-Partisan Professional Organization. </li></ul><ul><li>9000 members in 65 Countries. </li></ul><ul><li>Mission: To assist in professional development and critical environmental decision making. </li></ul><ul><li>Core Purpose: To improve environmental knowledge and decisions by providing a neutral forum. </li></ul>

Sections and Chapters <ul><li>Goal: To fulfill the core purpose of AWMA at local level. </li></ul><ul><li>32 Sections and 100 Chapters world-wide. </li></ul><ul><li>CPANS – Local Section. </li></ul><ul><li>Student Chapters: Mount Royal University and Lakeland College. </li></ul><ul><li>Future: UofA and UofC. </li></ul>

Professional Development <ul><li>AWMA offers conferences, workshops and courses. </li></ul><ul><li>Sponsors 6 to 10 specialty conferences per year on topics such as climate change, emission inventories and toxic measurements. </li></ul><ul><li>Conducts 30 continuing education courses. </li></ul><ul><li>Others: Job banks and hundreds of publications. </li></ul>

Annual Conference and Exhibition – Orlando, 2011 <ul><li>Association’s largest Conference (~2000 to 3000 Environmental Professionals) </li></ul><ul><li>More than 100 technical papers presented. </li></ul><ul><li>Great place to meet new people. </li></ul><ul><li>Highlights: Student poster contest, Young professionals program, mixers and social events. </li></ul><ul><li>Deadline for Abstract Submission: December 5, 2010 </li></ul>

Scholarships and Awards <ul><li>108 Scholarships totaling $383, 750 has been awarded. </li></ul><ul><li>Full-time students pursuing research in air quality, waste management, environmental policy, law and sustainability can apply. </li></ul><ul><li>CPANS offers Scholarship for students in UofA, UofC, Mount Royal University and Lakeland College. </li></ul><ul><li>Deadline for this Year January 03, 2011. </li></ul>
