Applications,College Course Outline)  graphs, functions, formulas, and proper mathematical notation are emphasized throughout the course. A scientific calculator is required. Prerequisites: MTH 20 and RD 80 (or ESOL 250). Audit available. (For detailed information, see the Course Content and Outcome Guide [OPENS IN NEW WINDOW]).Course Objectives  Intended Outcomes for the courseReflecting Expected   Use a variable to represent an unknown in a simple linearStudent Learning  problem, create a linear equation that represents theOutcomes  situation, and find the solution to the problem using algebraic concepts covered in class.  Recognize a linear pattern in ordered paired data collected or observed, calculate and interpret the rate of change (slope) in the data, create a linear model using two data points, and use the observed pattern to make predictions.  Be successful in future coursework that requires an understanding of the basic algebraic concepts covered in the course.  Grading  Course Requirements:      30% ‐ “Quick Quizzes”  30% ‐ “Comprehensive Quizzes”  20% ‐ Misc. Discussion Forums and Activities  20% ‐ Final Exam    Policies on Missed Exams and Late Work:  No late work will be accepted, except in the case of extenuating  circumstances. Please contact me, if you either have missed a deadline or  plan on missing one.    Grading Scale and Standards:  A – 90‐100%  B – 80‐89%  C – 70‐79%  D – 60‐69% O of I - 3.26.12
