If you have trouble walking for more than five or ten minutes, this is a good indication that you may need to start exercising.

But, even a greater risk for heart disease is abdominal obesity. Your waist shouldn't be any more than half of your height in inches. (Go get that tape measure)!
  6. 7. Do You Know Your Cholesterol Levels? <ul><li>Many people don't even know they have high cholesterol. Knowing your levels, you can make adjustments to your diet and your exercise program. Having high cholesterol can make you at risk for other very serious illnesses. </li></ul>
  7. 8. Did You Eat Any Whole Grains Today? Refined and processed foods are full of chemicals that give you flavor, but, hardly any true nutritional value. Eating whole grains provides excellent carbohydrates that are rich in fiber and nutrition. Whole grains have been linked to reducing your risk of heart disease, some cancers, and type 2 diabetes.

Your plate should mostly be fresh produce, with about 3 ounces of meat, and about one to two servings of whole grains.
