COMENIUS PROJECT
Transversal Competences – Today´s Solution for Tomorrow´s Jobs
Firstly I heard about this project from my English teacher. It is a project between few states from
Europe - Italy, Turkey, Poland and Czech Republic, and main idea of the project was to get new
experiences, talk in English language and do works together with students, who we didn’t know
each other. But I didn’t sign up. My English is weak, at least I think so. First meeting was in Italy,
where were my classmate Jakub. ‘‘It was awesome‘‘, he said when they came back, but I really
don’t know what they did over there. Next meeting should be in the Czech Republic, and my
English teacher had problem with accommodation of students from other country. She asked us
in class if we could offer accommodation. At first I didn’t agree with it, but then when nobody
registered I decided to help. I took it as challenge to improve my English.
Finally I had not one but two students from Italy, Giorgia and Ciara. I just accommodated them
so I wasn’t fully in project, not yet. Though, it was good experience. First work, which students
did together, was to decide for best logo of Comenius. Comenius members didn´t know our
culture, traditions much and they were surprised how rich it is. Every country has very different
culture. Second day we showed our school to students from abroad and then we did some work
again. In generally stay in Czech Republic was full of showing our culture and history and of
course Comenius work. We showed them historical part of Uherské Hradiště, old monastery in
Velehrad and other interesting things. So we hoped that they enjoyed visiting Czech Republic.
I think that was all between me and Comenius, but my head-teacher is very kind and she offered
me, that I could go to Poland, next Comenius meeting. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go, but I
decided to agree, and I’m proud of it. New experiences, getting to know new people, different
culture, traditions, history ... We went to Lublin by train, and if somebody thinks that traveling
by train has to be boring then he is wrong. We had a lot of fun and we really enjoyed it. My host
was Claudia, kind, beautiful and helpful girl, who lives with her mum. Lublin is awesome city
with rich history and beautiful nature. Atmosphere was amazing, everyone knows everyone so it
was released. Every day we had some work, so talking was necessary, but we had little
advantage, Polish and Czech people understood without English, so if we didn’t know some
word, we could use our native language . Our main work was about a preparation for a job
interview. We had to imagine that somebody was an employer and somebody was an employee.

Poland was one big fun and it has left lots of impressions in me. I like Polish people, they are
very helpful, at least members of Comenius :D.
I know that Czech and Polish relationships have been bad, but opposite is sometime true.
I really liked it, I improved my English and I hope that I will visit Lublin again...
