  2. 2. Why I Chose My TopicI chose my topic for a couple reasons. One beingthat I think airplanes are really cool and Ivealways been fascinated by how they work. SecondI plan to make my career by working on andrepairing airplanes in one of the branches of themilitary.
  3. 3. Background Information Since it was invented, the airplane has completely changed the world as we know it.
  4. 4. ThesisEven though there are other forms oftransportation, airplanes have had a huge impacton our daily lives because airplanes havechanged the outcomes of both world wars andairplanes allow us to travel across the worldfaster than any other means of travel.
  5. 5. Flight Throughout history, man has always been fascinated by birds and have wished to be able to fly like them.
  6. 6. Flight Flight was never actually achieved until Wilbur and Orville Wright flew the Wright Flyer on December 17, 1903. Their first flight took place in the fields of a small North Carolina town called Kitty Hawk.
  7. 7. Flight The first airplane was very different from aircraft of today. For one, it was made of wood and canvas instead of metal. It was also very small and built to carry one person.
  8. 8. Airplanes Today Now, airplanes are a major part of business and allow us to travel around the globe faster than any other form of transportation. I took a flight from Washington DC to LA once and the flight took about 6 hours. If airplanes didn’t exist and I had to drive from one coast to the other, it would take over a week and it wouldn’t exactly be the most fun ever.
  9. 9. Airplanes Today Now, with the help of the airplane, anyone can order something from a business across the world and have it delivered to them in about one week.

  12. 12. TitleColin AlmMs. Jenny HubbardFrosh Core1 February 2013 • TextAirplanes in Everyday Life Have you ever been on a plane ride? Since it was invented the airplane has completely changed the world as we know it. Even though there are otherforms of transportation, airplanes have had a huge impact on our daily lives because airplanes have changed the outcomes of both world wars and airplanes allow us totravel across the world faster than any other means of travel. There are a couple of main ways that planes have affected everyday life for us. In history man has always dreamed of flying. This was never successfully achieved, however until Wilbur and Orville Wright flew the Wright Flyer onDecember 17, 1903 (Hise). Their first flight took place in the fields of a small North Carolina town called Kitty Hawk (Hise). The first airplane was very different fromaircraft of today. For one, it was made of wood and canvas instead of metal. It was also very small and built to carry one person. Airplanes have been used to change the outcomes of both world wars. During WW1 they were used mainly for recon (Division). Large cameras wereattached to the bottom of the airplane (Division). Then the plane would fly over the battlefield and take pictures that covered large areas of land. Using these picturessoldiers were able to find trench lines and locate the enemy’s position. This was especially useful when using artillery because; the enemy could be weakened by artillerybefore sending ground units. In WW2 airplanes had all the same uses but were also used as bombers and fighters (BA). Bombers would fly over an area important to theenemy and drop a payload of bombs to destroy it. Fighters were made to take down bombers before they reached their drop zone (BA). Today airplanes are a major part of business and allow us to travel around the globe faster than any other form of transportation (Hise). I took a flightfrom Washington DC to LA once and the flight took about 6 hours. Back before the airplane a trip from one coast to the other would take weeks or months and could bedangerous! I think that shows how much easier life is because of the airplanes. Airplanes also allow businesses to transport their products all over the world fast. Now, withthe help of the airplane, anyone can order something from a business across the world and have it delivered to them in about one week. As a whole I think the airplane was the greatest invention of all time. Ever since they were invented airplanes have completely changed the world as weknow it. Despite the fact that there are other forms of transportation, airplanes have had a huge impact on our lives. Airplanes have also changed the outcomes of both worldwars and allow us to travel greater distances faster than any other form of travel. Honestly what would this world be without the airplane.Work CitedBA, Chris Trueman. History Learning Site. 2000-2013. 12 Febuary 2013.Division, Saskatoon Public School.
