  1. 1. TEE Time Crestwood Middle School 2011-12

What is TEE time? <ul><li>TEE time stands for T utoring, E nrichment, and E xtension. </li></ul><ul><li>The purpose of TEE time is to provide a neutral time of the school day for students to be tutored or extended in a curricular area, or enriched in a topic of interest. </li></ul><ul><li>During TEE time, all students will automatically receive extensions once a week in the areas of math and reading. </li></ul>
  3. 3. How does TEE time work? <ul><li>Mondays are Advisory days. Students will meet with their TEE teacher during TEE time for an advisory lesson. </li></ul><ul><li>Students will report to their TEE teacher Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays for one of the following topics. </li></ul>

Once a week you will participate in: <ul><li>Math – all students will participate in a math lesson once a week during TEE time </li></ul><ul><li>Reading – all students will participate in a reading lesson once a week during TEE time </li></ul><ul><li>Enrichment – all student will participate in an enrichment activity with their TEE teacher once a week </li></ul><ul><li>Tutoring/Enrichment – all students will be either tutored in a curricular area OR participate in an enrichment activity with a specials teacher once a week during TEE time </li></ul>

The Schedule <ul><li>TEE Time will occur for 45 minutes daily. </li></ul><ul><li>The time block is 12:52-1:37, after mod 3. </li></ul><ul><li>The weekly schedule is as follows: </li></ul>Enrich (with TEE teacher) or Tutor (with specials teacher) Tutor (with content teacher) or Enrichment (with specials teacher) Reading (with TEE teacher) Math (with TEE teacher) Advisory (with TEE teacher) 8 Enrich (with TEE teacher) or Tutor (with specials teacher) Reading (with TEE teacher) Tutor (with content teacher) or Enrichment (with specials teacher) Math (with TEE teacher) Advisory (with TEE teacher) 7 Enrich (with TEE teacher) or Tutor (with specials teacher) Reading (with TEE teacher) Math (with TEE teacher) Tutor (with content teacher) or Enrichment (with specials teacher) Advisory (with TEE teacher) 6 Friday Thursday Wednesday Tuesday Monday Grade Level
  6. 6. Tutoring Guidelines <ul><li>All students on the tutor list MUST report to the requesting teacher. Remember: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>6 th grade tutoring occurs on Tuesdays </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>7 th grade tutoring occurs on Wednesdays </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>8 th grade tutoring occurs on Thursdays </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Students will stay with the tutoring teacher the entire 45 minutes and may not leave if they finish early. </li></ul><ul><li>Students may ask a teacher for tutoring if they feel they need assistance. </li></ul><ul><li>Purposes for tutoring include </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Re-teaching of content </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Making up missing assignments/tests/quizzes/projects </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Other reasons as determined by the requesting teacher </li></ul></ul>

Enrichment with Specials Teachers <ul><li>Students will participate in an enrichment activity hosted by a specials teacher ONCE a week. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>6th on Tuesdays </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>7th on Wednesdays </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>8th on Thursdays </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Students will miss this enrichment opportunity if they are being tutored by a content teacher. </li></ul><ul><li>Students will participate in THREE different enrichment opportunities this year: one in fall , one in winter , and one in spring . </li></ul>

Student Sign-Up Plan <ul><li>Students will access an electronic survey online to make enrichment choices. </li></ul><ul><li>Sign-ups will occur on TUESDAY, AUGUST 30 th in language arts classes. </li></ul><ul><li>Administration will try to give each student one of their three choices, but no guarantees can be made. </li></ul>

Enrichment with TEE Teachers <ul><li>On Fridays, students will be participating in either an enrichment activity with their TEE teacher OR will be tutored by a specials teacher. </li></ul><ul><li>TEE teachers will determine the type of enrichment activities they will offer their students every Friday. </li></ul>

Choices for Fall Include… <ul><li>Book Trailers </li></ul><ul><li>Cavalier Club </li></ul><ul><li>Classic Movie Club </li></ul><ul><li>Computer Animations </li></ul><ul><li>Computer Software </li></ul><ul><li>DEAR & Creative Writing </li></ul><ul><li>Fitness & Cup Stacking </li></ul><ul><li>Team Sports </li></ul><ul><li>Power Walking </li></ul>
  11. 11. Book Trailers <ul><li>Love to read? Love technology? This is for you! </li></ul><ul><li>Read a book and then create a Book Trailer (includes photos and music) to promote it to other students. </li></ul><ul><li>The trailers will be shared with CMS students throughout the year to promote reading. </li></ul>
  12. 12. Cavalier Club <ul><li>Help to create the advertisements for our new spirit days. </li></ul><ul><li>Give insight on how to improve future student activities as well as ways to use those Cavaliers.  </li></ul>
  13. 13. Classic Movie Club <ul><li>Watch some classic movies like Gone With The Wind. </li></ul><ul><li>Discuss the unique aspects of the movies and compare them to modern day films. </li></ul>
  14. 14. Computer Animations <ul><li>Do you like computer-generated animations like Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Toy Story? </li></ul><ul><li>This TEE activity will have you watching animations like these, discussing them, and drawing thumbnails of your own animations. </li></ul>
  15. 15. Computer Software <ul><li>Like technology? </li></ul><ul><li>Learn new software like: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Microsoft Excel </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Microsoft Word </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>SketchUp </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Audacity </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>And many more….. </li></ul></ul>
  16. 16. DEAR & Creative Writing <ul><li>Love to read? Bring your own book and have at it for 45 uninterrupted minutes. </li></ul><ul><li>Love to write? Use the time to express yourself creatively. </li></ul>
  17. 17. Fitness Club <ul><li>Get your heart rate up! </li></ul><ul><li>Use the weight room, cardio room, and the beautiful outdoors to get in shape! </li></ul><ul><li>Practice the art of cup stacking in between workouts. </li></ul>
  18. 18. Team Sports <ul><li>Participate in the gym and outdoors. </li></ul><ul><li>Try being part of a team and get some exercise at the same time. </li></ul><ul><li>Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for exercise. </li></ul>
  19. 19. Power Walking <ul><li>Enjoy the fall weather power walking around our building. </li></ul><ul><li>Bring an iPod and listen to your favorite tunes. </li></ul><ul><li>Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for this activity. </li></ul>
  20. 20. Finally! <ul><li>All students will sign up using an electronic survey during LA classes on Tuesday, August 30 th . </li></ul><ul><li>Remember, you will choose 3 enrichment activities. They are not in order of preference – just 3 choices. You will likely be granted one of those 3 choices. </li></ul><ul><li>Do NOT sign up for the same 3 choices or a different choice will be made for you. </li></ul><ul><li>TEE time will start on Tuesday, September 6 th . </li></ul><ul><li>Any questions?
