  2. 2. In 1620 , 102 pilgrims sailed acrossthe Atlantic Ocean to reach North America.The pilgrims sailed on the ship called Mayflower.
  3. 3. The pilgrims arrived in North Americain December 1620.The Wampanoag Indians taught thepilgrims how to cultivate the land.
  4. 4. In Autumn 1621 only half of the pilgrimssurvived.The survivors decided to give a thanksgivingfeast to celebrate the first harvest.They celebrated the first Thanksgiving Dayat Plymouth, Massachusetts.The cornucopia is the symbol of abundance.
  5. 5. The pilgrims invited the Wampanoag Indiansalso to the feast.The first Thanksgiving celebration wasthree days. The Indians shared their corn and wild turkeys.
