  3. 3. An odd question to ponder in this land of the antevasin
  4. 4. In this sacred hollow
  5. 5. where dreamers walk between the worlds
  6. 6. Where mortars turn to thunder and shrapnel turns to rain
  7. 7. Where pond skaters dance in perfect concentricity
  8. 8. Balanced on the tension between sunlight and water’s deep
  9. 9. Where abundant lilies hang heavy with seed
  10. 10. Their suckling roots digging deep into muddy mysteries at water‘s edge
  11. 11. Where tadpoles lazily dream their tadpole dreams
  12. 12. Never imagining the wonder of the legs to come
  13. 13. Where bees rise, pollen laden, to carry their treasure
  14. 14. Across the green sea of meadow to foreign shores
  15. 15. Where blossoms morph into berries, which will fatten Bear for winter
  16. 16. Where leaves, just now, are trying on their richest gowns, anticipating their date with Autumn
  17. 17. When they will dance, giddily and freely, into the unknown
  18. 18. The Gatekeeper here, in this land of border dwellers, is an ancient Tree Spirit who, willingly,
  19. 19. Becomes the bulwark for that which will, one day soon,
  20. 20. Swallow Her Whole
  21. 21. Even now, Her piney juices flow freely into foreign veins
  22. 22. Ivy, Fern, Berry Vine
  23. 23. Their probing tendrils reach beneath Her ancient bark
  24. 24. To harvest Her deepest secrets and make them their own
  25. 25. She is LIFE swallowed by LIFE
  26. 26. LIFE becoming LIFE
  27. 27. Feeling no fear in Her becomingness
  28. 28. Savoring the cool protective verdancy of Her cocoon
  29. 29. Not knowing, or caring, if wings are in the offing
  30. 30. It’s not the risk of everything that bothers me
  31. 31. It is the word DEFEND That feels so foreign here
  32. 32. From what is anything to be defended or protected,
  33. 33. When nothing is ever lost but only transformed?
  34. 34. I’d rather ask, What am I willing to ALLOW at the cost of everything?
  35. 35. What am I willing to risk
  36. 36. to dream at the edge of becoming?
  37. 37. An antevasin, a border dweller
  38. 38. Defending nothing Savoring everything
  39. 39. With heart and hands open and ready to release
  40. 40. As I continually wake from one marvelous dream into the next
