SLUG: MIP CITATIONS
REPORTER: CHRIS COLE AND BEVAN LUCAS
DATE: 11/2/04
HEADLINE: CAMPUS VIEW PARTIERS FINED FOR MIP CITATIONS
SUBHEAD: VIOLATORS REMAIN IN COMPLEX BUT GET COMMUNITY
SERVICE, WRITTEN WARNINGS
Fifteen minors cited for passion of alcohol at Campus View Apartments appeared
in court Oct. 22.
Citations were given when Ankeny policy responded Oct. 7 to a noise complaint
and found alcohol on the premises. Most of the minors pleaded guilty to the citation,
which carries a fine of $155 for first offenders.
Brent Caswell, 19, who pleaded guilty, said that his court appearance “went over
pretty good.” He also said he’d be more cautious about his drinking in the future.
Posha Polousmiak, 18, said he didn’t plead guilty because he “wasn’t drinking.”
“It’s not going to stop me from having my fund,” Polousmiak said.
Those cited also face consequences from Campus View Apartments management.
Melody Record, manager at the complex, said six students had previous warnings. They
could have been evicted but received two hours of community service instead.
“I promised that they wouldn’t be evicted if they gave the hours, but they were
told that if anything happens again they would be out,” Record said.
Students who were cited but didn’t have previous citations received written
warnings, but no other action was taken.
