First of all Thanks for the invitation to the fourth China International Logistics Conference Thanks to China Communications and Transportation Association CCTA Xuzhou Municipal peoples government Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport CILT To get the opportunity to meet you and be able to talk to you is a honour and I will try to do my best. Logistics have not only been my job IT is also my hobby and passion
Living in 5 countries, Denmark, Swizz, Holland, Norway and Lithuania I have been lucking to get my learning in one of the bigger transport countries in the world, small Denmark. A country also lying in one of the smaller transport corridors in the world, a topic I will mention more about a little later Worked in 7 countries also Russia and Romania Not living but working both for 1 year on dedicate project, I have the luck also to work in these two countries, which each in have an impact on the logistics in their part of the world Romania, biggest supplier of drivers for EU Russia, the country in the world with the longest railway track I have Worked +35 years in the logistic industry Not only have I worked I have also been fortuned to work with most countries around the world, where countries differs with their approach based on possibilities to logistics, impacted by history and culture EVEN More – I got the opportunity to work with all transport modes/type have also been one of my duties. Worked within all kind of logistics Air Road Rail Sea Intermodal Last mile My background is Road, which I learned in what today is DB Schenker and later in LT came back to the ROAD, starting DSV Road in East Europe in 1993 In CH back in 1983 I learned about the multimodal at very early stage, which today is growing fast in China and EU In Holland to which I moved in 1984 I was lucky to work in Rotterdam which some of you might know is the biggest container port in Europe. In Norway, the stage chances a little, here I got my learning about new cultures working with quite some state transport companies in former East Europe Back in Denmark, I got the opportunity to learn about, - Niche transport – furniture, delivering to shops all over Norway. My history brought me to LT, when a company specialized in East Europe, was asked by the Danish foreign ministry to join on a trip to LT. In LT, the connection the world became next learning In Hoptrans got deep involved into Air from Middle east to LT and further to RUS, later from China to Lithuania and further to EU Railway To KAZ, from China and to/from Italy Today I spent most om my time in one of the leading Lithuania logistic companies Hoptrans, which focus on Infrastructure logistics As we call it. Where the main focus is Connecting the world and in this case especially China with North Europe Hoptrans road or history, brought us into the last big development in new time – e-commerce or omni channel, loved kids have many names. In the start up years ago, Hoptrans was among the first developing e-commerce logistics to Russia. Connectivity and Integration, have always been a part of the logistics world. There are few persons which earlier really knew a lot about how is the international trade. Logistics guy, they follow the move of products every day. Changes and development are most often done by rebellions, who want to develop something new. The last bigger component in the future world which will have a big influence is the Digital world Which I started learning about in 1992 before mowing to LT, this I will come back to
Key Words are ingredients in my speech for you at the conference here in Xuzhou The development of logistics have made The connection possible and by that also the integration By re-launch of the Trans Continental Rail also call EURO ASIA SILK ROAD ONE BELT ONE ROAD We are directly connected.
The vison for the ONE BELT ONE ROAD is far, after the relaunching, discussions and investment over years in High Speed trains and tracks have taken place.
Transport corridors – DK / Scandinavia and EU LT and Poland / Asia Russia and North Europe others like Texas and Calafornien / North and Centrale America Combing back to- connection - the I have been working – most of my CONNECTING WORLD, like Scandinavia and Latest with China / KAZ and Rus to Europe. These border crossing corridors have and will still have big influence on the logistics and the development. On transport of Chinese products into Europe. With the development of China Railway Express, China make it possible to come to Europe at more competitive prices than 10 years ago. The development speeded up in 2012 thanks to HP who were one of the main driving force behind the development of the new area of trans Eurasian rail, when mowing their production from Shenzhen to Chongching By using the most direct way and corridors the numbers of trains will only grow Today all parties (China – Russia – Europe) invest in
The oldest railway route was the Silk Road This is not enough today, more Railway routes from China to Europe Are under development, the North Middle South Route are all in process and will be able to use faster than ever, not only the speed on moving products are increasing but also the technology and construction. The Silk Road is something that is going to create a win-win situation because it inherently has in itself interdependence,” said Taleh Ziyadov of the New Port of Baku. “All of these hubs, inherently they are competing with each other but … this hub concept is going to integrate closer most of these countries, and we are going to want the others to succeed as well. The New Silk Road is a network of mutually supporting endeavors where the success or failure of any one project is dependent on the success or failure of many others. “In the east-west direction [of the Silk Road Economic Belt] there appears to be three competing routes,” Ziyadov began. “But when you look at the capacity, the cake that we all can tap into and take pieces from is so large that there will be enough for all countries along these routes. In our view, it is not really about stealing trade that goes, for example, from China through Russia to Europe; what we are doing is creating further opportunities to attract additional volumes of trade that could be brought into these routes.” Karl Gheysen, the first CEO of the now epic Khorgos Gateway dry port on Kazakhstan’s remote border with China, echoed this sentiment: “From a narrow point of view, one could try to argue that there is, or would be competition. But from the overall holistic point of view, this is the creation of something new in logistics. This is a new concept, an entire new market. Volumes will be more than sufficient to support all the stakeholders, and instead of competition this will create even stronger ties, since all projects will become interconnected. And that is what the New Silk Road is all about: interconnectivity.” Not only the rail, stations and boarders are important also with China Rail Express new branding where one of the most important are “The unified use of the CR Express logo indicates a tight regulation and management of brand construction, usage and publication.” “[These containers will travel] thousands of kilometers through Europe and everybody is looking, 'China Railways, here in Europe,’” said the intermodal freight manager in Małaszewicze. “It is a smart idea as to how to promote and develop a network, which is very important for the Chinese government — to be everywhere, to show that we are strong.” “This whole rail solution becomes extremely important, and with China being the driving force behind this . . . they also want to expose this even more in the world as a level of promotion as a brand,” said Ronald Kleijwegt, the logistics manager at HP who was instrumental in the development of some of the earliest China-Europe rail routes Connectivity and Integration, have always been a part of the logistics world
As one of the key elements in our Integration we have the D W Which is more than a computer it is Our daily live and making a lot more possible than for 10 or 20 years ago Starting working with logistics Some 38 years ago I used a type write – not electronic We use telex for international communication We only had normal telephones We worked being at work Computers started to be a part of all business In the beginning, they were almost only another typewriter Today we use small and big computers every hour Software make it possible Only one person to generate the data To communicate in a lot of different ways To tell us what is right and wrong We are today able to buy, transport and sell products follow by real time updated in the cloud and available for all companies and persons in the supply chain. Thanks to the digital world, we can now show and see the world and get our products within short time When I was a kid, my parents bought what was made around the corner, this was the products which was needed and enough for us. The globalization – connectivity and integration have made it possible for my kids to buy products every day from China. Prices – are getting the same if not we find it where it is best the logistics world
Connectivity and Integration, have always been a part of the logistics world. We all have different View Goals Values Culture
I have tried to share some of mine with you, all based on my History Education Learning Living in different countries Travelling
The countries of Europe and Asia are increasingly integrating together economically, logistically and politically via China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the various other endeavors of the broader New Silk Road, opening the gateway for a paradigm-shifting renaissance of technological innovation across the region. Trans-Eurasian transportation networks are being unified and streamlined, IT infrastructures are being upgraded and fused together, energy capacity is being boosted manyfold, and new types of problems are creating the opportunity for new types of technological solutions. Jonathan Hillman of the Center for Strategic International Studies (CSIS) in Washington D.C. posits that Asia has become a laboratory of new transportation ideas, and this is immediately evident when looking at the technologies that are emerging along its new array of trans-Eurasian trade corridors.
“Just as the compass and the domesticated camel facilitated greater mobility in ancient times, all these innovations have the potential to reshape today’s economic landscape,” Hillman proclaimed. Over the past five years, an entire 40+ line network of direct cargo trains between China and Europe has emerged, and while the innovativeness of this system is mainly found in the realms of politics and customs protocols rather than technology, this system has inspired a reimagining of the future of rail transport. Pushing the logistic limit
Trans-continental rail transport is back – Stronger Faster from 30-40 km per hour to 90 or 100 future we talk about 250 km More frequent Thx to all the investment and political view and decisions we now have a fast regular connections to and from Europe, which following the news from China will be possible from more province. Prices for the service comparing with air is good.
I started working transporting products and goods on wheels, I am pleased to know that products and goods always will end on the wheels.
