Where they live: terrestrial or aquatic. How they interact with humans: wild or domestic. The way they are born: oviparous or viviparous. If they have internal skeleton or not: invertebrate or vertebrate.
  2. 2. CARNIVOROUS ANIMALS  They eat other animals.  These are some carnivorous animals:
  3. 3. HERBIVOROUS ANIMALS  They eat plants: roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits...  These are some herbivorus animals:
  4. 4. OMNIVOROUS ANIMALS  They eat other animals and plants.  These are some omnivorous animals:
  5. 5. TERRESTRIAL ANIMALS  They mainly live on land. Sometimes they can get into water.  They can move in different ways and use different body parts:  Walking (legs)  Flying (wings)  Crawling/ sliding (body)
  6. 6. AQUATIC ANIMALS  They live in water.  They use their tails, fins or tentacles to swim.  Some of them don’t swim.
  7. 7. WILD ANIMALS  They live freely in their natural environment.
  8. 8. DOMESTIC ANIMALS  They live with humans:  Keep us company  Help us at work  Give us food
  9. 9. VIVIPAROUS ANIMALS  They are born from their mother’s womb.  After being born, the babies drink milk from their mothers.
  10. 10. OVIPAROUS ANIMALS  They are born from eggs.  Some of them incubate their eggs after laying them, they keep them warm.
  11. 11. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS  They have got an internal skeleton.  They have got different body parts:     Head Trunk: where the backbone and ribs are Tail: an extension of the backbone. Limbs: some animals have got legs or arms or fins or wings. Some haven’t got limbs.
  12. 12. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS  They are divided into 5 groups:      Mammals Birds Reptiles Amphibians Fish
  13. 13. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS MAMMALS  Most of them are viviparous.  They drink their mother’s milk when they are born.  They are warm-blooded animals.  They have got 4 limbs.  They breathe through lungs.  Can be aquatic or terrestrial.  Some of them can fly.  Most of them are covered by hair.
  14. 14. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS MAMMALS These are some mammals:
  15. 15. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS BIRDS  They are oviparous. They incubate eggs in nests.  They are covered by feathers.  They are warm-blooded animals.  They have got wings.  Not all of them can fly.  They have got a beak.  They breathe through lungs.  Some of them live in water and on land.
  16. 16. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS BIRDS These are some birds:
  17. 17. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS REPTILES  They are oviparous.  They are covered by scales.  They are cold-blooded animals.  Some of them have got legs and some of them haven’t.  They can walk, swim or crawl.  They breathe through lungs.
  18. 18. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS REPTILES These are some reptiles:
  19. 19. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS AMPHIBIANS  They are oviparous.  They have got damp skin.  They are cold-blooded animals.  They live in water and on land.  They breathe through lungs and their skin.  They eat insects and small animals.  They swim, walk or skip.
  20. 20. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS AMPHIBIANS  Since they go out of the egg until they become adults, amphibians go through a process called metamorphosis.
  21. 21. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS AMPHIBIANS These are some amphibians:
  22. 22. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS FISH  They are oviparous.  They are covered by scales.  They are cold-blooded animals.  They live in water.  They breathe through gills.  They swim with their fins and tails.
  23. 23. VERTEBRATE ANIMALS FISH These are some fish:
  24. 24. INVERTEBRATE ANIMALS  They have not got an internal skeleton.  Most of them have got something to protect their body:  Exoskeleton.  Shell.  Anything.  There are different types of invertebrate animals:  Arthropodes.  Mollusks
  25. 25. INVERTEBRATE ANIMALS ARTHROPODES They are the most numerous animals on Earth. They are covered by an exoskeleton. They are classified into:  Insects  Arachnids  Crustaceans
  26. 26. INVERTEBRATE ANIMALS ARTHROPODES  Insects:  Have got 6 legs.  Have got 3 body parts: head, thorax and abdomen.  Have got antennae.  Some of them have got wings.  Most insects go through the metamorphosis process.
  27. 27. INVERTEBRATE ANIMALS METAMORPHOSIS
  28. 28. INVERTEBRATE ANIMALS ARTHROPODES  Insects: These are some insects:
  29. 29. INVERTEBRATE ANIMALS ARTHROPODES  Arachnids:  Have got 8 legs.  Have got 2 body parts: cephalothorax and abdomen.  Haven’t got antennae.  Haven’t got wings.
  30. 30. INVERTEBRATE ANIMALS ARTHROPODES  Crustaceans: Most of them are aquatic and breathe through gills.
  31. 31. INVERTEBRATE ANIMALS MOLLUSKS They are soft-bodied animals, usually protected by a shell.
