2. There are an infinite amount of films, which can be categorized under different
genre. For example, there are horror movie, historical movie, action movie,
science-fiction movie and so on. What is a Science-Fiction film? Science-fiction
film are usually scientific, imaginative, and visionary by special fantastic special
effects. For this essay, I will be doing contrast on the differences of ‘Science-
fiction films’ from the movie ‘Rise of the Planet’ and ‘Dawn of the Planet’ by
targeting the differences in the plot, character and ending.
First and foremost, the plots for these two movies are different. For the movie
‘Rise or the planet of the apes’ the story begin with a scientist has raises a
chimpanzee baby in his house. This chimpanzee who names Caesar inherited his
mother’s high intelligence due to the ‘genetically engineered retrovirus’ that
might cure Alzheimer’s Disease.Caesar is able to learn sign language with the
help of the scientist. The plot then progress to Caesar is placed in a primate
shelter after attacking and biting the neighbor’s finger. Caesar is treater cruelly
by the guard and other chimps inside the primate shelter. Caesar releases the
apes then escape into the city by breaking the windows. Caesar steals the drug
from scientist’s house and releasing it to fellow apes. Caesar tries to destroy the
city and go back to forest. Caesar now capable of basic human speech and inform
the scientiet that he will be safe with all the apes. Meanwhile, the movie’Dawn of
the planet of the apes’ begin with caesar leads and govern a new generation of
apes. Caesar pre-emtively brings the apes to a confrontation with the humans
and warns humans to stay in their own terriory while apes stay in their own.
Malcom, the safe-haven’s co-founder and his group head to ape’s territory and
spotted by a gorlila name Luca.Koba sets fire to the apes’ home and shoots
3. Caesar’s shoulder. Caesar confronts Koba and Koba dead. Caesar informs
Malcolm that leaves with his family for friendship because human will not
forgives the apes.
Next will be the differences of the character of caesar in two movie. For the
movie’ Rise of the planet of the apes’ Caesar personality was violent and
aggressive towards anyone after the family neighbor assaulting Charles, the
scientist’s father. Caesar bites his family neighbor’s finger off and he was send to
primate shelter. Caesar influenced the apes and led them to break out of the
shelter and he killed Dodge, son of the shelther’s boss. On the other hand, the
movie ‘ Dawn of the planet of the apes’ Caesar has sympathy and compassion .He
believe that not all human are evil due to the love that was given by Rodmans, a
human family who raised him. Caesar also showed his lovely and responsibilities
toward his wife, Cornelia.He always accompany him by her side when she give
birth.
One of the biggest differences in two films is the ending story. For the
movie’Rise of the planet of the apes’ the story end with independent of Caesar
and reunion with other apes. He decided to stay in the forest even Will begged
caesar to come home with him. Will promised Caesar that he will try his best to
protect him. Caesar looks upon those apes and informed Will ‘ Caesar is home’.
Will was shocked that Caesar talked .All of the apes accepting Caesar as a leader.
However, the movie’Dawn of the planet of the apes’ ended with the friendship
between Malcolm and Caesar. Caesar informs Malcoms that humans will never
forgive apes and advises him to leave with his family. Malcolm also tells Caesar of
the impending war of human military reinforcemet. As Malcolm slips into the
4. shadows, Caesar facing for the war to determine the dominant species on the
planet.
To conclude, I have contrasted the differences of both science-fiction movies in
term of plot, character and ending of the movie. I have learnt that a chimpanzee
was humanised by the drugs ‘ genetically engineered retrovirus’ .that might cure
Alzheimer’s disease.The chimpanzee was demonstrates intelligence and self
awareness.These movie ultimately left us a clear message that if animals were
more intelligent, they will also need more control and deserve better treatment.
