A film distributor is the company who deals with the finance,
promotion and bookings of the film.
They work out the finance of printing and advertising the film.
They then choose the release date, organize partnerships,
advertising and public relations.
They then negotiate with exhibitors and select which cinema will
play the film.

Indie developers are smaller than conglomerates and have
less sway in the movie market, and thus produce smaller
scale films and try and target niche audiences

are similar to ours, such as Vice which is a thriller which also
involves an important code and stalking
Although they are quite popular, they are still a Independent
production company and smaller films will work best
WHY MIGHT THEY CHOOSE TO
DISTRIBUTE YOUR FILM
In terms of a release pattern, they might try a narrow release
pattern, to try and sell the film to a niche audience. This is
because they may lose in terms of market dominance to a
conglomerate equivalent. In terms of timing, they will most
likely try and time the release to when there are few
competing films of similar genre
Their marketing campaign may include things such as, press
releases, billboard advertising and viral marketing.
