A gap has long existed between SLA researchers and teachers in the trenches. This session demonstrates how the two groups can work together to improve research while implementing lessons learned from research which often contradict teaching methods. Practitioners will learn how to better understand and implement current research findings while learning how to contribute to the field themselves by raising the bar from anecdotal to research-based evidence by conducting their own SLA studies. Researchers and practitioners will learn how to establish relationships between universities and schools that can enhance and further the types of research currently taking place, bringing practitioners into the SLA discussion.
