Introduction
 Ion Chromatography (IC) is a form of Liquid
Chromatography that uses ion exchange
resins to separate atomic or molecular ions
based on their interaction with the resin.
 It was initially developed in early 1940s in
order to separate and concentrate rear earths
and transuranic ions for development of first
nuclear weapon.
Instrumentation and
Technique
 Can be performed on standard HPLC
instrument, with arrangements to
suppress mobile phase signals.
 Set up consist of:-
 Solvent delivery system
 Sample injection system
 Separating column
 Stripping column
 Detector
 Recorder

Introduction  Ion Chromatography (IC) is a form of Liquid Chromatography that uses ion exchange resins to separate atomic or molecular ions based on their interaction with the resin.  It was initially developed in early 1940s in order to separate and concentrate rear earths and transuranic ions for development of first nuclear weapon.
  • 4. Instrumentation and Technique  Can be performed on standard HPLC instrument, with arrangements to suppress mobile phase signals.  Set up consist of:-  Solvent delivery system  Sample injection system  Separating column  Stripping column  Detector  Recorder
