  4. 4. Chemistry is dominated by the study ofspecies in solution. Although any liquid may beused as a solvent relatively few are in general use.However, as the introduction f cleanertechnologies has become a major concern throughout both industry and academia.
  5. 5. Green chemistry is the use of chemistry forpollution prevention. More specifically, greenchemistry is the design of chemical product andprocesses that reduce or eliminate the use andgeneration of hazardous substances.
  6. 6. Ionic liquids are organic salt, that areliquids at or near room temperature .Many ionicliquids can be recycled and reused repeatedly .
  7. 7.  They are good solvent for a wide range of both organic and inorganic materials They are often composed of purely coordinating ions. They are immiscible with a number of organics solvents and provide a nonaqueous,polar alternative for to phase systems. They are non volatile.
  8. 8.  It is better to prevent waste than to treat or clean up waste after it is formed. Substances that possess little or no toxicity to human health and the environment. Chemical product should be designed to reserve efficacy of solution while reducing toxicity. Energy requirements should be recognized for their environmental and economic impact and should be minimized.
  9. 9.  A row material feedstock should be renewable rather than depleting whenever technically and economically practical. Catalytic reagents are superior to stoichiometric reagents
